  1. Not so fast

    by , 12-21-2010 at 02:15 PM
Yesterday the contractor arrived at my house, and right away that put up a red flag in my head. I don't usually see the guy unless he wants money. My contract says that I don't owe him anything until the job is finished. It's tricky wording, because I have two payments left. One says job substantially completed, and then the one after that is final completion. I don't figure we are any where near either of those points in this job.

Bottom line is, he wants me to change the payment ...
  2. We have walls!

We have walls in my attic. I never thought that the drywall men would complete their work in just two days. However, they did. There are walls. Walls around the bathroom, and a wall around the chimney, and walls everywhere there should be walls. We now have a ceiling as well.

The drywall men arrived at my house bright and early at 7 a.m. I wonder how much drywall they will be able to put up in one day's work? Last Friday when they were here, they spent 1/2 their time carrying that heavy drywall up into the attic, so only a few small areas were completed.

My grandson is surprised at how warm the attic is without their being any heat ...

    by , 12-20-2010 at 12:57 AM
Heavy winter rains soaked the Disneyland Resort over the weekend, washing out both crowds and construction crews in both parks. Still, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin and Tomorrowland's Astro Orbiter reopened after refurbishments. Over at California Adventure, guests could still see construction-in-progress throughout the park even as rain temporarily stopped the Imagineers. Meanwhile, as the fledgling California theme park finds itself in the middle of a multi-year remodel and expansion, the Los ...
