One of the earliest sketches for Disneyland was Herb Ryman’s entrance to Tomorrowland that is framed by the organic shaped buildings on the left and right and the monorail hanging from a track. From the beginning, Walt was very interested in building a “highway in the sky” for his park.
I'll admit it. I've never really gotten over so much of the original Disneyland Hotel being torn out and replaced by Downtown Disney. Nostalgic memories of youth can be cruel that way. I miss the Olympic pool, the coffee shop, the garden rooms, the Monorail Bar--heck, I miss a Monorail station that was actually attached to the hotel. I even miss the ugly freight elevator in the breezeway that connected the front parking lot to the hotel grounds.

Called upon by Walt Disney to design the Matterhorn Bobsleds, imagineer Bob Gurr wasn't sure if he was the right guy for the job.
"I never designed roller coasters," he says. "I hate 'em."
