So much like the removal of the beloved skyway, America Sings, The Country Bear Jamboree, Circlevision 360, the Peoplemover (for the total flop Rocket Rods) and a few other favorite attractions, though arguably for the better, Adventures through inner space (now Star Tours), rocket to the moon, later mission to mars (now the Redd’s Rocket Pizza Port), The Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, Imagineers are bowing to the dollar rather than Walt Disney’s vision of entertaining millions. While I can’t blame Disney Corp. for it’s desire to earn a dollar or two, the outrageous prices for entry, food, and merchandise has created a need for a second Mortgage just to take a family of 5 to Disneyland from any location outside of Southern California for a couple of days. Indeed, Disney once attracted the millions of middle America, because of the perception that Disney Corp. under the leadership of Walt and Roy were in essence the epitome of those values, and it was reflected in the end product of every en devour. Now, the faceless corporate machine has fulfilled the very destiny Walt tried to avoid with his Studio and Themed Amusement Park. For Walt Disney, to see the tragedy that has beset his once pride and joy of Disneyland, would be cause for a pain worse than death.
