Disney has announced a series of motion pictures at a mega press blow-out at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.
Of interest is a motion capture version of Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton. Depp will also star in a 4th Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Also to be produced in Motion Capture (A style of animation which uses real human motion as the base of the animation) is a new version of A Christmas Carol by Robert Zemekis to be released for holiday ‘09.
Jerry Bruckheimer is working on another sequel of the popular National Treasure series as well as a new version of The Lone Ranger, which is long overdue for a remake.
On the animation front, Bolt, is scheduled for a November release and was screened in its current incomplete state for the media. This is usually a very good sign. Studios are reluctant to screen anything in incomplete status unless the bones are very strong.
Cars 2 has been moved up to a 2011 release and a series of short animated features, called “Cars Toons“, will roll out on the Disney Channel. And the much anticipated Toy Story 3 (which was much cause of debate between Pixar and Disney prior to the merger) is set for a June 2010 release.

Many films are also to be released in 3D (16 in all) some of which will be rereleases of previous films - including Toy Story and Toy Story 2. If all of these numbers have your head hurting, don’t worry, we won’t fault you for mixing up your 2s, 3s, and 4s.
