Idol-ing
MiceChat columnist Denise “nbodyhome” Preskit takes us on a front of line tour of the “American Idol Experience” premiere (press event) at the Walt Disney Studios theme park in Florida. Along the way, she delivers dozens of fantastic celebrity photos.
Instead of red, Disney rolled out the blue carpet for Mickey, Paula, Ryan, Carrie the Davids, and a host of well known American Idol stars:

Fans lined up early to see their favorite American Idols:

Donald held one of the signs passed out to the crowd:

There were 20 American Idols (including all the winners, except for Kelly Clarkson) in a motorcade. Kelly did arrive later in the day.
Mickey Mouse was in the first car:

Bucky Covington, who now has a successful country music career:

Ace Young, with shorter hair then he had for the show:

Carrie Underwood:

Mandisa, who has been popular in the gospel music field:

Ryan Seacrest hugs the blue carpet announcer:

Sanjaya Malakar:

Inside the American Idol building. Mark, one of the warm-up preshow hosts, heats up the crowd. He is absolutely wonderful:

Jay Rasulo, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, welcomed everyone to the American Idol Experience:

Ryan came out to co-host, and Paula took the stage briefly as well:

Joel Van Wie, who was one of the Idol finalists for the day:

Mark Ellis, who won the evening:

David Cook, last seasons American Idol winner, plays for the audience:

Carrie Underwood followed, and they also dueted:

Kelly Clarkson missed the motorcade, but her appearance in the show marked the first time all the previous winners had been together in one place:

Creator Simon Fuller handed out a newly created award to each of the previous winners. He poses here with Fantasia Barrino:

Mark Ellis wins (note the hidden Mickey over the shoulder of Jordin Sparks):

The Idol winners pose with their new award:

Outside, the Idols gathered for a photo. Melinda Doolittle (who just released her first album):

David Archuleta:

David Cook:

Disney threw a huge party after the American Idol event, which included an array of food and drinks. The American Idols mingled with the crowd. Here, David Cook and Carrie Underwood enjoy the Rock and Roller Coaster:

Denise enjoyed the American Idol Experience and thinks that it will be a big hit for the park. If you enjoyed these pictures, even more are available on MouseSteps.com. Out thanks to Denise Preskitt for her fantastic photos and velvet rope view of the American Idol Experience theme park events.

It’s really remarkable that this show is so behind the experience. The fact that all 20 winners were there is a true testament to what Disney plans on doing with this attraction. Kudos!

Hi! I’d mentioned the Hidden Mickey early on - it’s nice having a camera that can zoom enough to see it well.
There are only actually 7 winners, but they had many of the finalists from a variety of seasons. Plus Paula, Ryan and Simon Fuller. It was quite the undertaking!

I had read somewhere that this is the first time ALL of the American Idol winners had been assembled in one place. I think it does show the commitment that both Disney and the AI producers have to The American Idol Experience. Kudos to Denise for bringing us these incredible photos of this event.

I think you might have gotten your Ducks mixed up. That’s Scrooge McDuck holding the “Donald is America’s Idol” sign.

Thanks! And on first glance, I thought it was Scrooge McDuck - but it looks just like Donald in the same outfit that Mickey has. It actually doesn’t look like Scrooge McDuck to me otherwise at all.
