Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World is scheduled to open Summer of 2024. With no date announced, we take a look at the current construction status and the changes that have been made.
From Mountain to Salt Dome
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure lights up at night with construction lights. On this night they were not actively working on exterior construction.
The mountain itself has lost its sharp briar patch look in favor of softer flora and greenery. The walls immediately around the front have been removed, providing a view of the drop.
The bird-filled tree of the briar patch era remains, minus the birdhouses, now sporting new greenery around its base.
The backside of Tiana’s water tower reads, “Never lose sight of what’s really important.”
The mill has gone through a transformation (old entry on the left)… It’s now sporting a brighter, more amiable look.
While the wind was blowing open the doorway, it wasn’t enough, or at a good angle, to get a peek inside.
But there are still spots where changes have yet to be made.
My favorite visible change are the colorful bottles doing a high-wire act right before the drop. The interior construction lights provide just enough visibility for us to make them out.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Queue
The majority of the exterior ride queue has not seen much change. It looks more like a storage and staging area at the moment.
However, some work has been done on a portion of queue under the Adventureland Railroad Station and on either side. It would appear that the entire queue could be getting these new railings as you can see them going through the construction walls.
Testing Tiana’s Boats
While taking pictures of the mountain, we noticed water running on the ride.
Nighttime testing of the boats has begun. Their appearances were sporadic — we caught only two — but hey, it’s a start!
