I do look forward to the ROA stuff, but honestly, I also really like the sleepy Mark Twain journey. It's nice to spend a few minutes just relaxing and taking things slowly, with nothing in particular demanding to be seen or done. Not being elbowed out of the way by some frantic vacation videographer who is afraid he'll miss a shot.

See, updates like these are why D23 should just stick to the glossy feature articles and forget about trying to compete as a source for insider info.

Great Post. As always. Thanks Al. Disneyland does need a New attraction again. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Finding Nemo Submarines seem to be years old now. Or maybe its just me, riding them so many times.

No offense, but was that lifted from a promotional flyer? Has a nice, smooth PR flow to it. You can almost hear Jack Wagner reading it on the main gate spiel.

No wonder at all about where Disney employees get theirs.

The D23 Expo seems to be set to work as a second window (in conjunction with the Blue Sky Celler) into the future for Disneyland/DCA and WDW. The new artwork and incites on the StarTours makeover and the coming Carsland have me beside myself with anxious anticipation. Look forward to seeing Mickey and the new dragon tangle as well.

Anyone but me want a more "family" orientated ride...Tinkerbell is for Girls mainly. Dads and Sons wont really go for this type of ride, Pooh, Little Mermaid, Cars, and Nemo are made for the entire family.

You're requesting an experience, as in "Disneyland experience." Sorry to be the bearer of disappointing news, but Disney stopped building those kinds of "family" attractions years ago.

Today's Disney pushes branded franchises to discrete kid demographics: Princesses for younger girls, Tinker Belle/Pixies for slightly older girls, Disney Channel franchises for preteens and teens, Cars for boys, Pooh for non-gender preschool.

Your job as a parent is to take your kids on Disney franchise attractions and buy them Disney franchise merchandise; essentially to fund a Disney branded lifestyle. If you enjoy the Winnie the Pooh, Tinker Belle and Little Mermaid attractions, that's great. If not, no loss to Disney -- you are not the primary demographic.

Your kids are.

The filling of the Lagoon was not delayed because of the wave machine rehab. Its falls completley on the contractor and Disney constantly changing ideas of what WoC should feature. I agree that strengthing of the wire trays and piping in front of the wave machine was required but had nothing to do with the delay in filling the lagoon.

When I was lucky enough to take part in the D23 event on July 17, there were posters backstage by the TDA building that indicated that discount Expo CM tickets were on sale. I am not a CM so cannot confirm either way.

That is so sad, yet true. I hope we can get back to some "old school" Imagineering for the parks. It would be a much needed breath of fresh air that's for sure....

Re: 8/25: The Reluctant Dragon

1. Volunteerism is not a Marketing Campaign.

2. D23 is doomed. It was doomed before it started. There is no way on earth it is going to get any better.

3. There is a new dragon? Is it riding the new Monorail? Both these things are what happens when you throw money around and forgot to hire people who dot i's and cross t's. I wouldn't be surprised if WoC has simular unforseen problems...

4. DCA DCA DCA DCA! Where to I mail the buck to?

Tink just got The MSEP and Ariel's old place in DL, She doesn't need a dark ride, too! There are many other animated characters that need to be better represented in DL, than Tink!

Re: 8/25: The Reluctant Dragon

Very interesting update with tons of unexpected surprises. Of course, if this is all true then why do I need to go to D23 if I already know what's going to be announced?

I'm really digging pretty much everything except for the Tinkerbelle and Fairies dark ride. Is Pixie Hollow not enough? I like Tink, but I've just so had it with her being everywhere. I would have much rather have a Beauty and the Beast dark ride instead. Heck, the Tinkerbelle and fairies franchise isn't even based on major motion pictures. It's all direct to DVD! Is this really what Disney is coming to?
