Re: 9/15: Laughing EO Off

having not been able to go to the expo myself, I really enjoyed seeing all the photos, especially of the Treasures and the Parks Pavilion. Those two aspects would be what would want to make me go next year (if it happens again, which I really hope it does).

as for MILF - I've never been to WDW so I can't really give an opinion on the show itself, but I agree with many others' sentiments here that Monsters Inc doesn't really fit in with TL. WALL-E would fit in so much better, or how about something completely original and independent of any film tie-in (I like the suggestion of possibly putting in Alien Encounter). I really do hope though that Captain EO is put back in the the theater, I'd love to see it again (and it'd give people who haven't seen it the opportunity to see it too).

Well, someone tipped Al to the addition of Washington and Obama to the DL Lincoln show. And we know that was bogus. This may indeed be another bogus "leak".

lets all chant together "Philharmagic!" It has as much to do with Tomorrowland as Laugh Floor... And it's an awesome attraction!! Whereas Laugh Floor is marginal at best (if that)

Philharmagic has a place in Fantasyland. Wish it had a better queue in Florida.

Re: 9/15: Laughing EO Off

I've seen MILF at WDW - It's set up like the Talking with Crush attraction in Epcot. It's an interactive show - it's cute - but I understand the criticism about the lack of Tomorrow in Tomorrowland. However, to be fair, there have always been attractions in Tomorrowland that represent more of the here and now rather than the future. In fact, and old timers help me out here, I believe the building where MILF now resides used to be the home of one of those attractions. It was either If You Had Wings (sponsored by Eastern Airlines) or the 360 degree movie (sponsored by Monsanto) - I loved both of these attractions but neither one was overly futuristic. And DL folks be glad - you could be getting Stitch's Great Escape! I'm one of the least critical people of Disney Imagineers but even I would have to say that is the worst attraction in the resort.

Re: 9/15: Laughing EO Off

Circlevision was meant to be the future of film, and thus represented Tomorrowland well.

While the people at WDPR (we're talking management here) may not be stupid, there are some (Rasulo) that are clueless. It's obvious that the Parks & Resort division has faltered in many of their "creative" efforts. It's uncertain whether that's just due to their failure to support real creative innovation and deferring to weaker concepts by favored Imagineers (i.e. politics), or because they just want to go with Pixar concepts because they're the hot new thing (until Marvel kicks in).

Re: 9/15: Laughing EO Off

Is it just me or wouldn't at least one of the Mission Space centrifuges fit in the the HISTA theatre at DLand? I mean... c'mon! If we're are going to clone, then lest clone a worthy genome!

Or even more to the point, how about a so called 4-D film recounting the rejuvenation of the earth "a la" where the film "Wall-E" left off? Tour the green recalmaition of the planet, tour the reclamation of the near-earth orbits. Very much like the older "travelogue" films... Then chaos happens to our supersized tour ship and it's up to the "bots" to fix it! Maybe "Otto" reappears as some freak "2001 a space odyssey" computer and "Mo" has to "remove contaminant." I think there are certainly worthy stories to tell... tried and true formats to re-imagine and space to fill with WORTHY replacements that will last into the future and not simply fill space with anachronistic obsolescence...

KEEP MOVING FORWARD!!! (speaking of which opens up still even more possibilities!) I'm just sayin'!!!

Re: 9/15: Laughing EO Off

Let's face it. The reason MILF is coming is that it is cheap. But I have hopes that this new MILF can be an improvement over the WDW show. While I am with others who prefer a true tomorrowland themed attraction, I think that this new Attraction can really be something special.

I agree with most of Al's suggestions. Adding one thought, I found that the whole area at the Expo was just too big for what was there. I really think that this event could be on Disney property and still be as nice or nicer.

Welcome to the Anaheim Convention Center

I'm going to tell you that you need to run a fan expo in the next 9 months. You need to have a weekend, and I need a week to setup/teardown the whole thing. Now goto that page and come back and tell us how you got your pick of weeks for 2010..
What that page doesn't show is the scope of any of those "conventions". Many are extremely small, just taking up one or two of the small halls. There are only a few that take over most of the convention center. Often, there are several "conventions" running at the same time. Even the D23 Expo didn't take over the entire convention center (Hall E was totally empty and many of the others were only partially used).

So, anyone looking to book the convention center would be provided with more information that shows what portions of the convention center are available at any particular time.

The attraction that was executed wasn't the original concept. I believe that they actually had some sort of motorcycle type attraction that was supposed to be used on the PM beam-way. Times, technologies and attitudes change. Anything is possible, given the opportunity to be creative without unnecessary restraints.

Well, they DID name the Expo after your club. Isn't that enough?

Yeah, I’d rather have 8-10 years of anticipating something new and awesome (like we did with the Subs and Carousel building) than having a completely wrong show stuffed into the space.
