>>I'm sorry, but when it comes to opening dates (Disneyland's or The Haunted Mansion's, or whatever), the official date it opened is whatever Disney says it is.<< But WHEN? Disney said August 12th was the opening day back in 1969, and then sometime in the future claims a different date.... Sounds like some folks I know, they were happy to claim there were born in a certain year when they turned, 18, 21 and 25 (score those lower insurance rates). But as they get older, the year of birth they claim no longer matches what was printed on the birth certificate. Alas, Disney is well known for the fact they like to change "History" and create their own "Spin" on things.... But some of use do remember, and are happy to not get into the "group think", but instead do research and find out the "real" date based on past history.

super duper !
Good stuff! Thanks
Great update, as always! ...but the greatest joy is seeing your baby duck photos ^_^
The OC Fair was so much better than the LA Fair. I think we have been converted. Now, we need to try the Ventura Fair. And I did live in Eureka, CA for a while and attended the Humboldt Fair which was a small intimate gathering. I'm sure it still is.
The Sand Sculpture IS Weird Al!!! The back of the Sand Sculpture...
Great Update

Ugh, the CHOC walk caught us off-guard last year when we arrived at 8 AM just to be told that the park was opening in 2 hours. We had to wait a few minutes just to get into the esplanade because the line cuts right through and is only cut for other pedestrian traffic about once every five minutes. I know it's for a good cause but if you are not part of the walk STAY AWAY FROM THE ESPLANADE.
>>wonderful update darkbeer!! and lets hope we do not have to log in to see your work, I tried all day at work, and could not read it until I got home from work and logged in.<< Once again, it was 100% a Brain Fart due to me... And due to techinical issues, it wasn't possible to switch it over to the "In the Parks" account. Lesson LEARNED.... ALL will be right next week!
Thanks for the update! I was especially pleased to read about the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. I was right by there this morning after surfing, and I love that place. Glad to hear the ride is getting some love. The Giant Dipper roller coaster there is one of my all time favorites, and I love that you can just stroll in, by a ticket and ride - with no park admission necessary!
Thanks for the update Darkbeer!

Wow, that was fast. They spent a lot of money to be closing it so soon.

I've been reading articles on Miceage for a long, long time, but hadn't signed up for an account until now. Totally worth it to see the photos of what used to be the Orange Stinger. Great column by the way, one of my absolute favorites.

Thanks for all your great work, especially the photos of the Grand Californian expansion. I'm not a DVC member but that is my favorite hotel of all time and I've been watching with bated breath
I think the dog might have run off to chase the cat over at DCA.
