Hello, Howdy, Ello, Oi’, Aloha. Welcome to the 2014 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. The festival kicked off last Thursday to its usual great reception. With numerous options for this years consumption, I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes the most successful Food and Wine Festival to date. There are a multitude of experiences this year, this comprehensive guide will help you plan your time at the festival.

First, let’s start with some fun facts:

Name: Epcot International Food and Wine Festival
Duration: 53 Days (September 19- November 10th)
Number of Kiosks: 35
Number of New Kiosks: 1

Park Operating Hours: Monday-Thursday 9PM – 9PM, Friday – Sunday 9AM – 10PM.

Of course, what I’m looking forward to most at this year’s Food and Wine Festival is MiceChat’s iconic “Sip and Nibble event. They’ve been doing this for years. It’s a great way to spend time with friends old and new!

Sip and Nibble – October 24

This event offers you the opportunity to drink and eat your way through all the food and wine offerings at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. This year there are 35 separate kiosks featuring food and wine from continents and countries such as Africa, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hawai’i, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Patagonia, Poland, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea. There are also odd kiosks with really great food (the Cheese kiosk is really GOOD!), the most delicious vegetarian dishes and fantastic drinks (alcoholic and non) for you to enjoy. Lets take bets—will we make it past France this year? (Hint . . . we’ve never failed to finish yet!). It’s an absolutely amazing day of food, drink and friendship!!!

You never know who might show up at a MiceChat event. Last year, Disney Legend Bob Gurr joined the tour for a chance to drink around the world.

Festival Merchandise:

This year the festival is offering two different logos on several items. Taste Your Way Around the World is the first with a bold, retro looking font which is fun and evokes the adventure of international travel. The second, is an homage to beer, Brews Around the World. This is sure to be a popular choice among guests who enjoy trying the various brews available at the Marketplace Booths. It features a rustic logo which channels a painted wooden plaque look. It also features landmarks of World Showcase.

The reusable tote in 2014 features both logos — one on each side.

Along with the aforementioned, there are magnet, a commemorative plate, Duffy donning chef wear, Mickey Ears with a chef’s toque, insulated tumblers collectable pins and more!

Speaking of pins, be sure to pick up the limited edition pins attached to recipe cards with Jessica Rabbit and Mickey.

Celebrity Chefs:

Celebrity Chefs will be visiting throughout the festival.

They are: Warren Brown, Rock Harper, Jennifer Hill Booker, Erika Davis, Paula DaSilva, Gale Gand, Dana Herbert, Jamie Deen, Jerome Brown, Dean Max, “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro, Allen Susser, Duskie Estes, and John Stewart. The chefs will be performing at culinary demos and premium events.
Fun Fact: there are over 270 Disney and visiting chefs at this years festival.

Special Events:

There are various events taking place in addition to the standard park offerings. Some are offered multiple times over the festival, others, one night only. Don’t miss out on some of these very special events!

World Showcase Dining Events:

Various events will be offered throughout the world Showcase at this years festival. Take a look below for details:

Breakfast in Paris:

Start your morning “à la Parisienne” with a mimosa, freshly made baguettes, rich brioches and golden croissants. All the while, sip away at unlimited coffee—make it “au lait!”—or enjoy tea, steaming cups of chocolat chaud (French-style hot chocolate) and fresh-squeezed orange juice too.

At this sophisticated buffet, the hand-shaped baguettes have been made from scratch over a period of 48 hours at Les Halles Boulangerie & Pâtisserie next door. Try them fresh from the oven with butter and Bonne Maman confiture (fruit preserve)—it’s what the French call a tartine. And don’t be afraid to mix something sweet with something savory. Pain au Chocolat? Slice of brie? Just say “Oui!”

Why not try a little of everything? It just may be the most delicious French breakfast on this side of the Atlantic!

Ultimate Day at Epcot Food & Wine Festival:

Savor a deliciously exciting day featuring the flavors of this world-renowned event in a refined, carefree setting. During the Ultimate Day at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, you won’t have to pick and choose—you’ll get to do it all as your Disney VIP Guides course you through an extraordinary occasion!

The tour begins at a special VIP Lounge—hidden within the Festival Center at the Wonder’s Retreat—where you’ll start with a flute of champagne and a perfectly paired bite as you’re welcomed by a representative of the Festival.

Then, it’s time to experience the most popular attractions at Epcot, including Test Track Presented by Chevrolet, Soarin’, Spaceship Earth and The Seas with Nemo & Friends. After a break and a brief time to shop, you’ll return to the VIP Lounge for a hosted beverage tasting, followed by a 6-course tapas-style lunch—paired with wines, ales or spirits by our sommeliers and chefs.

Next, set out on a private backstage tour of the Greenhouse Gardens at Living with the Land, followed by a stroll to World Showcase. Upon your arrival, one of our Disney Chefs will greet you and give an introduction to the International Marketplaces of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, accompanied by a 3-course international tasting.

Finally, soak up the ambience and essence of World Showcase as you make your way to America Gardens Theatre for one more glass of bubbly, along with VIP Seating at the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. After the concert concludes, you’ll be able to venture into the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival on your own!

Plus, as an added bonus for those who stay through the end of the day, you can even take advantage of a special reserved location to witness the laser, lights and fireworks display—IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.
