2/22: Plaza Pavilion, "it's a refurb world," Toy Story Mania!, PeopleMover?, +more
Welcome once again to Dateline Disneyland! As the spring off-season presses on, more construction walls continue to pop up and refurbishments and construction projects continue - now, if only Space Mountain were on the refurbishment schedule this spring.
Anyway, join me on a quick trip around the parks as we look at work going on at the Plaza Pavilion, Toy Story Mania!, and Innoventions.
WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
Refurb walls have gone up in front of a section of the Bank of Main Street. The Bank was still open, however, for Annual Passport processing.

At the end of Main Street, U.S.A. walls have gone up around the Plaza Pavilion. There has been plenty of rumor and speculation that the Disney Gallery is relocating here and will open in October.

The Disneyland Dream Suite evicted the Gallery from its home in New Orleans Square last fall.

Currently, the closest thing you can find to the Disney Gallery is what Cast Members have been calling the "Pop-Up Gallery" in the exit lobby of the Main Street Opera House.

MiceChatter ALIASd ran into Imagineer Tony Baxter recently in the "Pop-Up Gallery" and was told that now would be the time to write to Team Disney Anaheim to encourage the return of the Disney Gallery!

"it's a refurb world"
While the Plaza Pavilion's extensive closure gets underway, another long refurbishment is moving along. "it's a small world" isn't scheduled to re-open until later this November.

Only a couple signs of work are visible from the outside

The old flume remains.

HINTS OF TOMORROW
Siemens' Project Tomorrow exhibit inside Innoventions is getting a new interactive feature installed.

While Siemens works on their Project Tomorrow, hints at a possible new Tomorrowland project have been circulating, especially with visible work going on atop the old Rocket Rods/PeopleMover load station.

The old operating consoles have been removed from the platform and rumors have been circulating about a "We're Imagineering a New Attraction" banner recently appearing briefly along the PeopleMover track.

With Tony Baxter sightings in the park, mysterious work going on atop the platform, and Disney's growing interest in continuing to revitalize the Disneyland Resort is it feasible to get hopes up for a New Tomorowland project in the near future?

TOY STORY MANIA!
Over at Disney's California Adventure, work continues on the upcoming Toy Story Mania attraction.

More features and detailing continue to be added to the facade.

Various roof tiles have been painted a different, brighter shade of red

New outdoor vending contstruction

And benches on Paradise Pier have gotten new wood.

Alright, that should do it for this week. Be sure to share your thoughts below and add Dateline Disneyland to your favorite RSS reader today so you never miss your weekly Disneyland fix!

the consoles did exist up there on the people mover track at least until late last year. went up there to clean some stuff and saw them, all the guts was long taken out but some stuff remained like old wiring diagrams for the new tommorrowland (what you see now) refurb. kinda ironic.
inside queue area still has the old weird neon plexi glass, lights are still on, even has some old copper colored tommorrowland trash cans kicking around...
as for the construction near the lincoln theater, it's being rumored it's going to be a.... surprise! area to buy more food in... just what is needed.... hehPosted 02-24-2008 at 11:55 AM by mohavewolfpup
