Welcome once again to Dateline Disneyland! As the spring off-season presses on, more construction walls continue to pop up and refurbishments and construction projects continue - now, if only Space Mountain were on the refurbishment schedule this spring.

Anyway, join me on a quick trip around the parks as we look at work going on at the Plaza Pavilion, Toy Story Mania!, and Innoventions.

WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
Refurb walls have gone up in front of a section of the Bank of Main Street. The Bank was still open, however, for Annual Passport processing.

At the end of Main Street, U.S.A. walls have gone up around the Plaza Pavilion. There has been plenty of rumor and speculation that the Disney Gallery is relocating here and will open in October.

The Disneyland Dream Suite evicted the Gallery from its home in New Orleans Square last fall.

Currently, the closest thing you can find to the Disney Gallery is what Cast Members have been calling the "Pop-Up Gallery" in the exit lobby of the Main Street Opera House.

MiceChatter ALIASd ran into Imagineer Tony Baxter recently in the "Pop-Up Gallery" and was told that now would be the time to write to Team Disney Anaheim to encourage the return of the Disney Gallery!

"it's a refurb world"
While the Plaza Pavilion's extensive closure gets underway, another long refurbishment is moving along. "it's a small world" isn't scheduled to re-open until later this November.

Only a couple signs of work are visible from the outside

The old flume remains.

HINTS OF TOMORROW
Siemens' Project Tomorrow exhibit inside Innoventions is getting a new interactive feature installed.

While Siemens works on their Project Tomorrow, hints at a possible new Tomorrowland project have been circulating, especially with visible work going on atop the old Rocket Rods/PeopleMover load station.

The old operating consoles have been removed from the platform and rumors have been circulating about a "We're Imagineering a New Attraction" banner recently appearing briefly along the PeopleMover track.

With Tony Baxter sightings in the park, mysterious work going on atop the platform, and Disney's growing interest in continuing to revitalize the Disneyland Resort is it feasible to get hopes up for a New Tomorowland project in the near future?

TOY STORY MANIA!
Over at Disney's California Adventure, work continues on the upcoming Toy Story Mania attraction.

More features and detailing continue to be added to the facade.

Various roof tiles have been painted a different, brighter shade of red

New outdoor vending contstruction

And benches on Paradise Pier have gotten new wood.

Alright, that should do it for this week. Be sure to share your thoughts below and add Dateline Disneyland to your favorite RSS reader today so you never miss your weekly Disneyland fix! View RSS Feed

Thank you Andy for a negative free report. I like seeing what's going on in the park and being able to formulate my own opinions of the resort. Great Report.

I call it as I see it. I could have posted more photos of Space Mountain's abysmal upkeep situation, but it's already been said. Honestly, I don't call foul unless I see something that I feel is deserving. I don't go seeking "negative" things to feature in this column. But if there's something worth mentioning - good, bad, or otherwise, I do it.

I wondered if that had been the case. In any case, it does appear that there is some recent work up on the platform. The exposed power chords, the nondescript black trash can, etc. It could simply be just standard maintenance, but who knows... I've been hearing some different things...

Nice report! Hey, what rumors have you heard for the People Mover Track? Was there really a banner up? That track needs SOMETHING, it looks so sad.

    Thanks again!

I agree with the post a ways above - thanks for an honest, informative report! You do great work. I'm glad to know I can know address the fact I'd love to see the Disney Gallery some back - I've got some mixed feelings about the Dream Suite as is!

    Thanks again!

The construction walls at the Bank of Main Street is not for a refurb, they are in fact building a Chase Bank Kiosk, which is believed will offer new account sign ups.

Interesting, considering there is already a Chase ATM on the other side of the Bank. Thanks for the info.

Makes more sense if the kiosk is for the Disney credit card. Most people don't take branches inside of grocery stores seriously. With the bank I work for, I started in an instore branch and people referred to us as a "play bank" and the traditionals as "real banks". They'll open accounts at traditionals, but use the instores for withdrawals and problems. I don't think anyone would take any bank branch seriously if it's inside a theme park.

My sources say that Plaza Pavillion's kitchen is being refurbished because the New Orleans main kitchen is going down for rehab. As to the new location for the Disneyland Gallery...why have Greer, O'Graten and Kim Irvine been sceen measureing the office space above Lincoln's lobby aka Art of Disney Gallery 3 times in the last 2 weeks?

That's what I actually meant, about it being a Credit Card Kiosk. Sorry.
