Welcome to this week's Dateline Disneyland. We've got just a quick look at a couple of the various construction projects going on around the Resort right now along with some more new merchandise. So let's get to it, shall we?
WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND
Work continues at the Bank of Main Street

The Plaza Pavillion was re-opened for overflow Annual Passport processing. Currently, only the outdoor patio is walled off, with an access path available to the building for AP processing.

RE-OPENING THE JUNGLE
The World Famous Jungle Cruise re-opens for daily cruises tomorrow, March 8. Here's a quick look at some of the work inside the queue that took place this week.

TOY STORY MANIA!
Detail work, testing, and additional work is on-going at Toy Story Mania and the construction of the new semi-permanent Outdoor Vending continues.

The windows high up in the Toy Story Mania rotunda now shine brightly at night. The entire building will look amazing at night once the rest of the lighting is turned on.

GRAND CALIFORNIAN EXPANSION
It's been a while since our last check-up on the Grand Californian Hotel expansion construction. The construction site is still mostly a big hole, but every day is progress.

MORE NEW MERCHANDISE
Some new Ear Hats are now available:

The collegiate-style merchandise isn't entirely new. The line was introduced several months ago, but it seems to have proven popular as more of it has recently hit the shelves.

And a new Mickey Mouse 80th Anniversary paper sculpture by Dave Avanzino is available. It is limited edition of 20 and runs $850. It's pricey, but very nice!

Alright, that should do it this week. Thanks for reading and be sure to add the MiceChat Featured blog (featuring Dateline Disneyland and Monday in the Parks) to your favorite RSS Reader so you never miss your Disneyland fix!

It is time to re-open the boardwalk. It has been closed way too long.Posted 03-07-2008 at 08:45 AM by toemblem

I bet your wife does look adorable, but remember when they used to sell just the yellow hat with the cute flower? Is it weird to anyone else that we're supposed to buy a hat-- with a second, miniature hat attached? They have something like this at the Tokyo Disney resort, but even more bizarre.
BTW- I just want to say how much I enjoy watching Toy Story Mania get built... reminds me of my father's stories of watching Disneyland in 1954. Thanks a mil, Andy!!!Posted 03-07-2008 at 09:59 AM by CandyPandora

Hi Andy,
Jut wanted to say "Thanks" for featuring my "Mickey and Minnie 80th Anniversary" artwork on your posting. It is an LE of 20 but there are only 10 available at Disneyland. The other 10 are at WDW and they have almost sold out already. Thank you again for the coverage. I appreciate it very much. Dave AvanzinoPosted 03-07-2008 at 11:10 AM by davanzino

I hate the word "Resort" in just about every piece of merchandise. It just seems they force it on everything.Posted 03-07-2008 at 05:12 PM by Code90

Great update! Is it just me, or does that CM standing outside the Plaza Pavilion give anyone else an "I'm watching you Wazowski... Always watching..." kinda vibe?Posted 03-07-2008 at 05:20 PM by Flaming Monkey

Since I live in Washington State and I can't be there near as much as I would want to. It is always a pleasure to view the pictures each and every week.

I did not realize this until you said it, and you're so right! Disneyland is DISNEYLAND, and the rest of the world doesn't think of it as a "resort". When I think of a resort, I think of richie beach resorts or something.Quote:I hate the word "Resort" in just about every piece of merchandise. It just seems they force it on everything.
I was actually digging the v-neck shirts too, and now i'm not because of the resort.Posted 03-08-2008 at 01:30 AM by twobluestripes

Dave, I haven't yet seen your piece in person, but it looks great from the picture here! As an art major, one of my favorite things to do is go into the little art galleries in the park and drool over the artwork that I can't afford (and also decide which pieces are just too corny or tacky!). Hope to see more of your stuff soon!Quote:Hi Andy,

Thanks for the LE info. And thanks for producing such fantastic pieces. It's my pleasure to be able to include them in Dateline Disneyland.
