3/14: Pixar Play Parade, Toy Story Mania!, Bob Gurr's window, Innoventions, +MORE!
Posted 03-14-2008 at 12:58 AM by Dateline Disneyland
Welcome to another edition of Dateline Disneyland! This past week saw a lot of activity around the parks. Imagineering Legend Bob Gurr finally got a window on Main Street, U.S.A., Toy Story Mania is a flourish of activity, the Jungle Cruise has re-opened, and the much anticipated, and much talked about Pixar Play Parade soft-opened at Disney's California Adventure.
We've got a lot to see, so let's get to it shall we?
WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
While the rest of the park geared up for Spring Break this week, the windows of Main Street, U.S.A. welcomed its newest honoree, Imagineer Bob Gurr.

Bob Gurr's window pays tribute to his extraordinary expertise in designing many of the various modes of transportation around the park - from the Monorail to the Omnibus, Mr. Gurr was Walt's go-to man for ride vehicles.

Accompanying the window is a new sign featuring a vintage bicycle.

JUNGLE RE-OPENED
The Jungle Cruise has re-opened.

SIEMENS' POWER CITY
In Tomorrowland, Siemens' Project Tomorrow exhibit in Innoventions recently opened its new Power City interactive game.

The new game has low capacity, as explained by David "Darkbeer" Michael in his 3/3 Monday in the Parks column, so be aware that your wait time may be a bit long, even if the line to play is relatively short.

Epcot's Spaceship Earth makes a cameo appearance in the game. Also note the KDIS radio station. Hopefully they still don't play Miley Cyrus in the city of the future

New screens have been added around the area's large globe. They were not working as of last weekend.

MAKING A SPLASH!
The Pixar Play Parade officially debuts today at 5:15 p.m., however, lucky park guests and keen Disney fans have gotten to see the parade all week in dress-rehearsal soft-openings. All-in-all, the parade looks like a great new addition to Disney's California Adventure, and a huge improvement over Block Party Bash, which has relocated to Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.

TOY STORY MANIA LIGHTS UP
The Paradise Pier boardwalk construction area was alive with activity as work kicked into overdrive to meet deadlines for this weekend. The boardwalk is scheduled to re-open today for easier traffic flow in anticipation of the larger spring break crowds.

Lighting on the buildings is in place now, and is being turned on in the evenings. It looks great.

GOLDEN STATE BRIDGE
The new foot bridge between the Grand Californian's White Water Snacks and the Grizzly Peak Recreation Area pathway is progressing.

GRAND CALIFORNIAN PROGRESS
And finally, a quick look at the ever-progressing Grand Californian Hotel expansion project.

Alright, that should do it for this week's trip around the parks. Thanks for reading and be sure to add the MiceChat Featured blog (featuring Dateline Disneyland and Monday in the Parks) to your favorite RSS Reader so you never miss your Disneyland fix!

Personally, I don't think the PPP is a *huge improvement* over BPB. At this point, I was much happier with Block Party. This new parade, as I mentioned in a thread I created, just doesn't grab me. When BPB first premiered, I fell in love with it instantly. The PPP has to grow on me, but I'm hoping I'll end up liking it as much as BPB.Posted 03-14-2008 at 07:53 AM by DisneyFunGuy

Golden State Bridge?
Wow, I had not noticed or heard about this new "foot bridge between the Grand Californian's White Water Snacks and the Grizzly Peak Recreation Area."
Is this an additional connection from the hotel to the park for some reason? A replacement for the current bridge by the Napa Rose?Posted 03-14-2008 at 11:03 AM by Admiral Boom
