Welcome to another Dateline Disneyland installment! This week we'll be taking a look at the current progress of the Paradise Pier construction, including the now-open Midway Mercantile shop and outdoor vending. Also, we'll get a glimpse of Narnia's Prince Caspian at Disneyland and a quick look at the Submarine Voyage waterfall work.

Let's get to it!

WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
The new Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian pre-parade is now appearing before Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams daily at Disneyland. Thanks to MiceChatter Armadillo4 for these shots.

Over at the Submarine Voyage, the green water hoses feeding the entry waterfall have been half-camouflaged with a covering that is similar to the cavern rock work.

PROGRESS IN PARADISE
The big news of the week, though, was the opening of the new Midway Mercantile shop and the Don Tomas outdoor vending location on Paradise Pier in Disney's California Adventure.

Don Tomas serves the standard turkey legs, chimichangas, and bottled drinks found in the various outdoor vending carts throughout the parks. The only difference here is that the fast food is being sold out of an air conditioned building, which is definitely a plus for the CMs working on the Pier during the hot summer months.

The shade structures will be used for extended queue for Toy Story Midway Mania after it opens. The structures themselves are quite nice, and beautifully themed.

Stanchion post holes can be seen on the boardwalk under the shade structures, and queue chain hooks are attached to the posts.

Fans will provide relief from hot Southern California summers.

Nearby, a new sign designates space for stroller parking which will be much-needed when Midway Mania opens.

Even small signs like this are highly detailed and excellently designed now! Awesome!

The other outdoor vending location still under construction further down the Pier is progressing nicely...

The inside of the new Midway Mercantile is very nice and offers a nice selection of Toy Story and Midway Mania merchandise.

Amazing.

New Midway Mania t-shirts

Girl's shirt

Since Midway Mania is opening at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World at the same time, share the same name, and is basically the same ride, the shirts have tags with both Resort names.

Lots of plush

Lots of Mr. Potato Heads

The store features a Toy Story Midway Mania attraction poster.

These exits will be for guests exiting the attraction.

Alright, that should do it for this week. Thanks for reading. Thanks again to Armadillo4 for the great Prince Caspian pre-parade shots.

See you next week!
-Andy

    Cool pictures.
I'm confused though how the shade structures are going to be used as the extended queue. Wouldn't this cause the line to be blocking the normal path?

Yes the line out to the Shade area will block the path, but they will have cast members holding ropes to stop the line and let the regular people though.

I'm just amazed that Disney thought of putting in shades first. It took them over a week last year to put up shade for the nemo line.

those Narnia costumes won't be much fun in the summer heat. I wonder how long that pre-parade cavalcade will go on..

The shade will be much needed. I suppose it will be cleaner than trees. Thanks for your posts. I appreciate reading your posts.

Hmmmm...if the extended queue is on the OTHER side of the boardwalk, wouldn't that create a human barrier in the middle of the pier?
