It's once again time for Dateline Disneyland. I'd like to thank David "Darkbeer" Michael for once again sharing his excellent photos for this week's update. Let's get to it!
WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
HalloweenTime officially begins today at the Disneyland Resort.

The orange HalloweenTime bunting is strung up on Main Street Station, but Floral Mickey will still sport his Year of a Million Dreams theme throughout HalloweenTime.

Over in New Orleans Square, Haunted Mansion Holiday is back for its annual stint.

The gingerbread "house" is in the shape of a coffin this year.

Across the esplanade, Candy Corn Acres is back at Disney's California Adventure.

REPAVEDLAND
New Orleans Square and Tomorrowland have both gotten some repaving work done lately, and both lands recently revealed some of the new groundwork.
The Star Tours side of the main Tomorrowland walkway is now mostly open, and construction walls have moved over to the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters side of the walkway.

In New Orleans Square, the French Market is back open after the inside got some work done as well as the dining patio getting repaved.

The area around the Haunted Mansion got repaved as well.

REFURB ROUNDUP
Work on the upcoming Pixie Hollow continues along...

"it's a small world" is out from behind painting tarps..

The Frontierland Shootin' Exposition is getting some work done up on its roof

and over at DCA, Burger Invasion is now behind tarps...

KNOTT'S SCARY FARM
And finally, a quick look around Knott's Scary Farm...

Alright, that should do it for this week. Thanks once again to David "Darkbeer" Michael for all of the photos in this week's update. More photos from David can be found in his Smugmug gallery at darkbeer.smugmug.com.
Thanks for reading!

We'll have more on the Disney's HalloweenTime festivities next week, so be sure to check back here for next week's update.

Great pics. Halloween is the 2nd best time to visit the Disneyland Resort (1st Christmas). I really hope that one day, Disney bring something like Mickey's Not So Scary over here with a parade, fireworks all that good stuff. Thanks again for the great pics.Posted 09-26-2008 at 11:01 AM by Mustang61777

While DL does have a MUCH better track record in regards to upkeep than the MK, I did notice a few 'troubling' issues there last week. There were some effects on PoC that weren't working (something I expect in FLA). Worse, the lightbulb situation in the esplanade era is starting to resemble Queen Cyn's evil reign of terror. The booth closest to DCA (no. 14 I think) had about a third of its lights inoperable and many had just been removed and not replaced. The marquee entrance to DD at the esplanade exit has about half of its lighting non-functional. This is awful show and I am shocked Al hasn't mentioned it yet. For $94 a day for a hopper, people pay for a premium product.
Again, these are relatively small issues but I'm not as sold on Michael O'Grattan as Al has been (he IS a FLA guy despite starting out at DL, no matter the spin). He is no Emmer or Ouimet and is much more likely to let things slip so long as the numbers are looking good.Posted 09-28-2008 at 12:24 AM by WDW1974

Oh, there are also already 'issues' in the Midway Mania queue due to the materials used not being able to withstand daily use/abuse by guests. That shouldn't be on an attraction that opened three months ago.Posted 09-28-2008 at 12:26 AM by WDW1974

Yeah, Midway Mania closed the morning I visited the park last week. I'm thinking about hitting it tomorrow to catch Halloween time before my AP expires. I imagine the crowds are still light.Posted 09-28-2008 at 06:28 PM by whamo
