WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND!
HalloweenTime is in full swing now at the Disneyland Resort.

New park maps feature HalloweenTime cover designs

The inside flap also features HalloweenTime information, as well as blurbs about two upcoming attractions - Pixie Hollow at Disneyland and the Walt Disney Imagineering Blue Sky Cellar at Disney's California Adventure.

HalloweenTime treats are back at the Blue Ribbon Bakery

And the Penny Arcade fudge counter is selling seasonal pumpkin fudge.

PIXIE HOLLOW
Progress continues at the former Ariel's Grotto meet-and-greet area, which is being transformed into Pixie Hollow.

The old turntable that used to be where guests met Ariel in her mermaid form has a new structure being built around it.

REFURB UPDATE
Conestoga Fries in Frontierland is now officially part of Yesterland.

The ground where it was located is now all patched up.

The other fry stand in New Orleans Square is still closed, and behind walls.

Over in Fantasyland, the ground has also been patched up behind the construction walls in front of the former Skyway queue entrance.

And the Tomorrowland repaving project continues to chug along...

NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
15TH ANNIVERSARY MERCHANDISE
Disneyland will host a merchandise release tomorrow, October 4, to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The merch includes some nice Haunted Mansion Holiday-inspired collectibles.

A CLOSER LOOK AT HALLOWEENTIME
And to wrap up today, a look at the various HalloweenTime offerings.
Candy Corn Acres has returned at Disney's California Adventure.

It seems like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror didn't receive its HalloweenTime overlay in the courtyard and lobby this year. Last year the Tower of Terror's HalloweenTime offerings got downsized with the discontinuation of the haunted hotel guest walk-around characters and mini ghost story shows in front of the Hotel. This year it looks like the attraction, despite being listed as a HalloweenTime offering, was written out of the holiday budget.
No bat arch.

No lamppost decorations.

No lobby decorations, either.

Across the esplanade at Disneyland, Frontierland is celebrating Halloween in Big Thunder Ranch, and Dia de los Muertos in Zocalo Park.

A Cast Member carves intricate Disney character pumpkins throughout the day. The secret to them not turning to mush in the humid Anaheim fall is diluted Elmer's glue. Paint it on the carved areas of your pumpkin, and it should last you a few weeks!

The nearby Scaredy Crow Shack is always a treat.

Dia de los Muertos is back.

Nearby, and new this year, is renowned author Ray Bradbury's Halloween Tree, decked out in purple and orange lights and painted pumpkins.

Haunted Mansion Holiday is attracting big lines and lots of Fastpass users.

Alright, that should wrap up this week's Dateline Disneyland. Thanks, as always, for reading. See you here again next week!

Odd that they included the year 2007 on the plaque in Frontierland...Posted 10-03-2008 at 11:22 AM by Grizzly

It's both odd and appropriate.Quote:Originally Posted by GrizzlyOdd that they included the year 2007 on the plaque in Frontierland...
The Halloween Tree was officially dedicated October 31, 2007 -- so the plaque is correct. That it was dedicated on Halloween night is the reason why it didn't stick around for guests to see -- last year HalloweenTime officially ended on October 31. So now it's back this year.
And the inclusion of 2007 is odd because Frontierland is thematically in the 1800s. So, there's definitely a contradiction there. Ultimately, however, the plaque is necessary to explain why the tree is decorated, otherwise it would just seem odd that only that tree has lights and pumpkins on it, so the date and the contemporary author's name are unavoidable thematic wrongs in the land during October.Posted 10-03-2008 at 12:01 PM by MasterGracey

I was there this past Monday and didn't see the plaque in connection with the tree and wondered why one lone tree was all decorated and lit up. It's really very pretty.
Great photos. You capture the colors and angles so nicely.
Ah, the Fortuosity Shop is open ... I'll have to go soon.
And yes, the pumpkin fudge is really good

I'm sure someone has already asked this but are any of these photos available in their original size to use as desktops? Some of them are stunning. Look forward to your response.Posted 10-03-2008 at 02:45 PM by imbartalk
