Welcome to the January 26th Dateline Disneyland. We'll kick off this week with a look at the various on-going construction and refurbishment projects at the theme parks, more Celebrate Today! decorations, and a look at San Francisco Street in California Adventure before it begins its conversion into a new set of guest restrooms.

Of course, feel free to click on any photos with Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker watermarks. These photos will link you to the Project Tracker threads on MiceChat where you can get the latest news on the projects going on at the parks and join an on-going discussion about the current construction plans.

Alright, time for the update!

WELCOME TO DISNEYLAND
The marquees at the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure are getting the purple "Celebrate Today!" color scheme

New "Celebrate" decorations have gone up at the security checkpoints.

CONSTRUCTION WALLS, U.S.A.
Main Street's re-paving project presses on...

The Emporium's back room is closed off while it gets some work done.

Main Street entertainment has gotten costume updates for the Celebrate Today! campaign.

"it's a small world" progress
"it's a small world" holiday facade decorations have finally come down.

Some minor repaving.

Christmas lights are finally coming down from the facade before the February 6 re-opening.

A peek inside the "Goodbye" room

Elsewhere in Fantasyland, the Princess shop is starting to lose some signage as it is transformed into the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique.

PARADISE PROGRESS
Over at Disney's California Adventure (DCA), the work along Paradise Pier continues to show weekly signs of progress.

The Sun Wheel continues to go from its gold and teal to the yellows, blacks, and reds of Mickey's Fun Wheel.

As the Sun/Fun Wheel prepares to get its new Mickey Mouse face, California Screamin' is starting to take down its big Mickey icon.

California Screamin's Mickey icon will be replaced with a new sunburst and "Paradise Pier" logo.

The Games of the Boardwalk are progressing nicely...

Nearby, the lighting base around the Orange has been removed.

Across the bay, the Golden State Amphitheater is slowly but surely getting started on its expansion into a 9,000-person viewing area for the upcoming Disney's World of Color show.

Looks like work has started on clearing out the area's landscaping.

Lights posts are being removed, too.

SAN FRANCISCO STREET RESTROOMS
Across the street from the Golden State Amphitheater, the empty San Francisco Street facades are scheduled to go behind construction walls today, as they are converted into new guest restrooms, which will accommodate the big World of Color crowds early next year.

You may be wondering why new restrooms are being built when perfectly good restrooms are currently available on the other side of San Francisco Street.

The space occupied by the current restrooms is slated to be absorbed by the upcoming The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Adventure mega-dark ride that should begin construction later this year.

Even if they are just restrooms, at least the empty facades here will be used for something. The new restrooms should open in mid-May.

THIS AND THAT
Grizzly River Run should re-open tomorrow (Tuesday, January 27) following a short refurbishment.

Back in Disneyland, L'Ornement Magique in New Orleans Square is closed and its windows blacked out.

And in Tomorrowland, next to the Tomorrowland Terrace, a section of concrete below the damaged Monorail track awning has been cut open.

    Great Update.

Does anyone else think transforming Main Street costumes into "the current promotion" trim is a little tacky?

great update! i can't believe that i only discovered this site last week (probably cuz i have never really looked around) i also think the main street costumes are a little tacky as a tie into the current promotion. Some things just shouldn't be messed with...

Those pants are so ugly. I'm not enamored with the color scheme of the new promotion. What happened to the Crystal Magic Shop next to Pinocchio? Just the door closed? Any pics? Any rumors that it may become something else?

How did the track get damaged? I seem to remember hearing about this but can't remember what the cause was...

While I don't like the construction walls, Walt's original vision was that Disneyland will never be finished. So I guess I shall keep that thought in mind when I see them.
    Awesome update as always!

I think it's sort of pointless that they're basically just switching the themese of Screamin' and the Sun/Fun Wheel. Sun Wheel is going from sun themed to Mickey themed, and Screamin' is going from Mickey themed to sun themed.

Those pants looked like they were thrown together because the trim is puckering like that strip was quickly just thrown on a pair of polyester pants! :/
