It was announced after we went to press last Monday that Disneyland Resort President Ed Grier announced his retirement in an e-mail sent out to Anaheim Cast Members. The sudden announcement followed the recent trend of a three-year term for Disneyland Resort Presidents, but unlike previous President Matt Ouimet, nobody seemed to really care about Ed leaving. Mr. Grier's last day in Team Disney Anaheim was on Friday.

What a week! Last Monday Disney announced its new "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" theme park marketing campaign for 2010. The new campaign is led by the Muppets and will give free tickets to Disney theme parks for 1 million guests in exchange for a day of community service. Meanwhile, in the parks, Disneyland has opened the doors to the new home of the Disney Gallery and the newly re-worked lobby of the Main Street Opera House. Halloween Time is here! Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and the new Halloween Screams fireworks show is bringing new thrills this year while old favorites like Haunted Mansion Holiday, Candy Corn Acres, and the Main Street Pumpkin Festival are back. While Halloween Time scares up fun in both parks the new Edelweiss Snacks turkey leg stand in Fantasyland has opened, and construction continues in Disney's California Adventure.

It's been a slow Disney news week after Disney's big D23 Expo blew through town. But that hasn't stopped the constant buzz of activity at the Disneyland Resort. Work continues over at Disney's California Adventure as crews work tirelessly on the park's $1 billion remodel and expansion. New equipment towers have been installed in Paradise Bay for the upcoming World of Color water-and-fire show, and digging and prep work on the space for Cars Land and the upcoming Little Mermaid dark ride is progressing....

The inaugural D23 Expo has come and gone, and for Disneyland fans, it didn't disappoint. Fans were treated to an impressive line-up of theme park panel discussions, one-on-one interaction with Imagineers, and an up close and personal look at the massive new Cars Land coming to Disney's California Adventure and the three new lands coming to Hong Kong Disneyland. But don't forget the big news -- after years of rumors, Star Tours II finally got the official announcement.
