Welcome to the Memorial Day 2009 edition of Dateline Disneyland! At the end of last week's column, I mentioned I'd be gone for a couple weeks as I head off to Walt Disney World. Well, thanks to some last minute spare time freed up in my schedule before I hop on the plane to Florida, and the help of MiceChatter Matt "2DieFR" Gottula, who took the time to take photos for the column this week, we've got a full update here for you today.

Between the Astro Orbitor's emerging new color...

Fancy new restrooms opened in Disney's California Adventure this week, as the park gears up to demolish restrooms in the same area to make room for the upcoiming Little Mermaid dark ride. Nearby, construction continues on the big new World of Color night show in Paradise Bay. Over in Disneyland, the Harbour Galley quick service dining location is finally getting a new menu and should reopen by the end of the month, and work continues on the Astro Orbitor and Cosmic Waves projects in Tomorrowland....

Mickey's Fun Wheel opened early last week and we've got photos of California Adventure construction from the top of the Wheel. Also, we've got a look at the fancy new LED lighting on Mickey's Fun Wheel. We'll also update you on the re-opened Pixie Hollow pond and queue area, which got new lighting installed which will debut as part of Disneyland's Summer Nightastic! on June 12. Welcome to Dateline Disneyland! Mickey Mouse made his big debut last week on Paradise Pier as his face was installed on the front of the former Sun Wheel. We'll take a look at that along with the opening of the new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland, which officially opened its salon portion on Friday. We'll also take a look at some new Blue Sky Cellar merchandise and a new line of Earth-friendly "Love the Land" merchandise.
