The "Love Your Mom" edition of In the Parks
OK, cheesy title, but I couldn't come up with anything better... And it is the weekend to make sure you send your love to Mom!
By the way, this is the second edition of "In the Parks" this week, a special Cinco de Mayo edition, featuring the first look at the views from Mickey's Fun Wheel, and a LOT more was featured Tuesday. Here is the link if you missed it.

Well, time to start the Friday edition...
Garden Grove to try again, this time the largest Water Park "Hotel" west of the Mississippi
The City of Garden Grove, already successful with its group of "InternationalWEST" hotels near the corner of Harbor and Chapman, just south of the Disneyland Resort keeps looking for an "Anchor". This time, it is a year round Water Park that is part of a Hotel, planned to be built near Harbor and Garden Grove Blvd.
Deepa Bharath of the Orange County Register discusses the story, which includes a marked map at the link.http://www.ocregister.com/articles/p...617-hotel-city

A project of this magnitude could help put Garden Grove on Orange County's resort map, but it's not going to be easy, said Al Lutz, editor of MiceAge.com.
"If Garden Grove can get their act together, do some long-term planning, make some serious commitments and work with Disney instead of competing with them, there's a good chance this could happen," he said.
One way Garden Grove can work with Disney and Anaheim is to link to their shuttle transportation, Lutz said.
"Anaheim made a serious commitment by fighting off developers coming into the resort district," he said. "Garden Grove has been looking for something to happen. But the question is: Can they make it happen? Can they make a serious commitment?"

Five thousand people are expected to attend this premier food, wine and music experience and will sample foods from over 50 fine restaurants from Anaheim and surrounding areas. Some of this year's delectable tastes will come from Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, California Pizza Kitchen, Bubba Gumps, McCormick & Schmick's Grille, Rainforest Café, Naples Ristorante, Catal Restaurant & Uva Bar, Tortilla Jo's, Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, Mr. Stox Restaurant, and Alcatraz Brewing Co. just to name a few!
Of course, there will be entertainment too, including the America's Got Talent finalist, Eli Mattson.
The event this year will be held at the new Anaheim GardenWalk.
The event is from 5:30 to 9:30 PM next Thursday, the 14th, so get there early!

So why is this in the "In the Parks" article? Well, it is because the store, "Little Miss Matched" is coming to Downtown Disney Anaheim, taking over part of the former Department 56 location. The store is expected to open this summer.

The Disneyland Resort Annual Passholder Summer Newsletter has been released
If you are an Annual Passholder, be on the lookout for the newest edition of the AP newsletter. And if you can't wait, here is the online version...

Not much "new" news, but the Mickey Trick or Treat Party Tickets at DCA will go on sale for JUST Annual Passholders on May 15th.
The New Pixie Hollow Fountain is Finished.

After being behind refurb walls and tarps the last few weeks, the new Fountain has been unveiled. The fountain is fairly basic, and the "bubble" piping has been replaced by a multi-color LED spider web.

Looks like it will be a much better "nighttime" location.

As always great update. Loved the photo of the lost land of BBQ. I bet by fall Werner will be writing a Yesterland article about this debacle.Posted 05-08-2009 at 11:01 AM by whoRU
