Want to get "Campy" and go inside someone's brain plus the latest info
Well another piece of Disneyland History disappeared this week, with the long standing Timon Parking Toll Booths being sent to Yesterland, plus lots of photos from Universal Studios, the Orange County Fair and yes, even the Disneyland Resort.
Quick Timon Parking Lot Update

The photo above shows the little bit of rubble that used to be the Timon Parking Toll Booths. Nothing much has changed in the parking situation that was covered in detail in last week's update.
http://micechat.com/forums/blogs/in-...o-oc-fair.html
The minor change is that they are now using the former "exit" lanes that went east bound to Harbor Boulevard as the west bound lanes that takes cars from the Harbor Blvd entrance to either Simba or the Parking Structure. Of course, this is to allow for more construction work for the new Cars Land project.

Quick update on the latest offerings for Halloween Time

The Photo Supply Company was decorated for filming of a new Halloween Time commercial on July 16th.
Brady MacDonald over at the Los Angeles Times got Disneyland Park officials to go on record in regards to the information Al Lutz has been posting here at MiceAge.

Disneyland will add a “haunted” overlay to Space Mountain and a fireworks “spooktacular” for the Halloween season, theme park officials said.
The “Halloween Time” event, which runs from Sept. 25 through Nov. 1, is included in the price of admission to the Anaheim theme park.
This will require both the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain to be closed for much of September. The one benefit is that much of the time needed for the Space Mountain closure is for testing and installation of the new Holiday theme, but once it is finished, the removal will be quick, and only a few days will be needed to changeover if they decide to offer it again in 2010.
One of the big pushes for Disney right now is the "local" market due to the economy, and this will give the Marketing folks two new attractions to try and get guests to come check out the new attractions, and that the offerings are fairly low in additional costs, as much of the Space Mountain overlay is using the music and effects that were developed for Hong Kong Disneyland. Much of the infrastructure is already in place in Anaheim, as they will be using a lot of what was installed for the Rockin' overlay when the ride was rebuilt in 2004-2005.
Murphy, the new Fantasmic! Dragon is still having problems.
Al Lutz is reporting the following in the "Editor Notes" that can be found at the top of the MiceAge page.
Work on Murphy (Fantasmic's dragon) has slowed upon the realization that some of the mechanics need to be re-engineered entirely. Right now it's not expected to debut in time for the 17th, and people are again talking about a timetable in weeks instead of days.
So don't forget to check out MiceAge on a daily basis, and check out both the newest articles, plus the Editors note that can be found in the upper left corner.
Blue Sky Cellar reopens with the focus on the new World of Color show

In case you missed, Fishbulb posted a great group of photos yesterday at MiceAge.

Also, Disney unveiled a "web" version of Blue Sky Cellar. You can find it at this link.

A nice site with photos and video, but a lot of the different sections repeat the same material currently. Hopefully they are just doing it as "filler" and that they will be updating the site on a regular basis with new content.
54th Anniversary weekend at Disneyland

An Disneyland Press Release from July, 1967 talking about the 12th anniversary of the park.
On July 17th, 1955, ABC television had at the time one of the most complex Live Broadcasts in Television History by broadcasting a special Star Studded Preview event at Disneyland.
Then at 10 AM, Monday July 18th, 1955 the park opened to the public, and about 50,000 paid to check out the brand new park.
You can find a set of Historical Documents that talk about the events in mid-July at this link, including the full page of the Press Release shown above at...
http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/gallery/6484647_BQxJP
And if you happen to be at the park this weekend, try and stop by the Hub area around Noon, as there will be a "Noon Meet at the Hub" on Friday July 17th, Saturday, July 18th, and of course, the traditional Sunday meet on July 19th. Located in the South West corner, next to the Partners Statue.
Universal Studios Hollywood Update
Had a chance to check on the progress of the Backlot on July 11th, and it is progressing nicely.

Interesting to note, that now on weekends, the Backlot Tram Tour will go by Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show studio. (The area is too busy with production traffic during the week).

A very well done street show called SFX is performing in the park this summer.

Creature of the Black Lagoon - the Musical at Universal Studios Hollywood

The new show at USH is surprisingly good, but a few points to make.
First off, you need to go in with the attitude that you are going to see a "Campy" show, and not a Tony winning Musical.
That the show has a lot of innuendo and while there is nothing wrong with the show for little ones, it might be a bit hard to explain to a older child/pre-teen that might ask a few questions. Of course, the parent should know if this is a show that they think their kid could handle or not. You will be hearing jokes about things like Male Enhancement Creams, and seeing guys ripping off their shirts. So as they say, Buyer Beware.
The actual production values were quite good, with nice special effects, lighting and sound were very good, and the cast was quite good.
Of course, the script, well, let's just say it's "campy"...
Here are a few photos...

The Orange County "Super Fair" also has its Campy show

The Orange County Super Fair opened last Friday, and will run through August 9th. (Closed on Monday and Tuesday).
The highlight of this year's fair is the World Premiere of "Al's Brain", an somewhat weird film, with an educational aspect.

One of the first things you see that is somewhat different is when you enter the Pre-Show room, and are handed your 3-D glasses. Since the film is only offered for a short time, they do not have the machinery to clean the glasses, as Theme Park do. So they had you a pair of glasses, plus a "wipe" to clean your own glasses.

The film itself is funny, and features cameos from Fabio and Paul McCartney. Well worth waiting in line, and heck the film building is air conditioned and seating is provided in the main theater.

Well folks, hope everyone has a great weekend and try and stay cool.
