Welcome to the In The Parks Blog, where we attempt to keep you up to date on what's new and exciting in the Southern California Theme Park and Entertainment world.
This is Comic-Con weekend in San Diego, and both Knott's and Disney will be present. MiceChat's Coheteboy has some of the earliest photos and news from Comic-Con, including Disney's booth. Also in the news this week, Knott's to become a film star? Who's got the ugliest dog? ESPN Zone gets a refresh. And lots of photos and updates from the Disneyland Resort. Let's get started:

Knott's to have a "Franchise" Film?
Interesting to see that Allentown Pictures decided to pick up the rights to the original Knott's Old West Ghost Town Characters for a potential movie.Would you be willing to pay extra for FastPass Perks?
http://www.allentownproductions.com/...co/index.shtml
Allentown Productions isn't the biggest production company in the business, but it does have a fine set of credentials, and has made quite a few award winning films, but mainly in the Documentary genre. Should be interesting to see what they can do with the characters Walter Knott created.Quote:
A family adventure based on Knott’s Berry Farm’s Calico Ghost Town and all of the rides and original characters created for the theme park. This potential franchise film is in the tone of “Pirates Of The Caribbean”, set with ghosts in the old west. Knott’s Berry Farm is the second largest theme park in Southern California, visited during the last ten years by an estimated 30 million people from around the world. The park is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. In addition to Knott’s Berry Farm, Cedar Fair owns and operates ten other amusement parks, six water parks, one indoor water park resort, and five hotels.
Brady MacDonald at the Los Angeles Times asks an interesting timely question.... Would you pay an additional fee for additional FastPass perks?Kitson Kids comes to Downtown Disney

Check out MiceChat for discussion about this topic in regards to each of the different Disney Parks.Quote:
Disneyland issues VIP FastPasses to celebrities, fights the sale of the line-cutting tickets online and dreams of a day when visitors can reserve ride times via cellphone.
So that raises the obvious question: Would visitors pay to use the theme park giant’s currently free FastPass system?
Disney theme parks around the world offer variations on the FastPass ride reservation system, which allows visitors to return to an attraction at a designated time and enter via a shorter line.
The Orange County Register has an article of the newest store that opened in DtD last weekend.ESPN Zone upgrade is progressing nicely

Interesting concept, but maybe during this economy, was the wrong time to open. Should be interesting to see how the store performs.
The installation of new HD Flat Screens is coming along, with the Screening Room (North side) being finished.A look at the Anaheim GardenWalk Ugliest Dog Contest
The rest of the restaurant still needs to be done, but it looks like they will reach their goal of having the project finished by the start of the NFL Season.
Selected Photos from around the resorts (loads of additional pictures available at Darkbeer.Smugmug.com)
That should do it, have a great weekend everyone - We'll see you In The Parks!
Work continues on the Timon Lot preparations
Did someone forget to issue the Memo that the Timon Lot is closed. Heck, there are also a lot of maps all around the Resort that needs updating
But the Construction folks working in the Timon Lot get new signs
The former Golden Dreams building is losing its west side

Honestly... there aren't any really ugly dogs there. That one chihuahua isn't the prettiest, but the rest are pretty cute.
Yes, even the chihuahua in the sombrero.
That IS Pinocchio's Pleasure Island. They returned it to the parade along with the Snow White Mine float this year.Quote:Originally Posted by OrcatimeThe float before Pete's Dragon Elliot, is that a reference to Pinocchio's Pleasure Island?Posted 07-25-2009 at 10:54 AM by stitchon
