Well, the D23 Expo is over, the banners are down across town (now wishing you a Happy New Year in September) and time to get ready for Halloween. Lets get started.

Motel 6 on Disney Way is now "European-chic"

Decided to start with this because it is a "shocker". Check out this story and video from the Orange County Register.

I like the look of the new rooms. The Motel 6 on Disney Way is lucky in the fact that there rooms are larger than the typical Motel 6, as it is an building that has also hosted other brands in the past.

Also I like the fact that Motel 6 is pet friendly.

Knott's Halloween Haunt Burger King discount coupon information

The Southern California Burger Kings now have the Knott's Scary Farm discount coupons. Each coupon is good for up to 6 tickets. You can also order discounted tickets online through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com/knotts, but be prepared to pay some steep service fees. All discounts based on Day of Event full price ticket of $53.99. (There are no child or senior tickets as the event is not recommend for children under 13). You can use the coupon on the day of the event, if the event is not yet sold out.

The one thing I like about Fright Fest, it is included in regular park admission. Scheduled for Fridays through Sundays in October. (except October 2nd).

The sheriff's department had a warrant for Jacquelyn Carman's arrest for over a month, and this week she was arrested.

Nowadays, you can find great deals at the Theme Park's own website or from authorized resellers. There is no need to deal with folks who are scamming you or scamming the park in doing things like selling multi-day tickets for "one day" use.

Upcoming event reminders

Just a heads up on some events that will impact the parks.

This Monday, September 21st has Disneyland closing at 6 PM due to a private event that night.

Knott's Berry Farm will be closing at 5:30 PM daily starting next week due to Haunt.

Gay Days Anaheim is being held October 2nd through the 4th.

It is also a holiday weekend for many students in Utah, who come down in force, so expect larger than normal crowds between Gay Days, UEA weekend and the second weekend of Halloween Time, which will be heavily marketed in the Southern California area.

Monday, October 12th is Columbus Day, a Federal holiday that many State and local government employees also get off. It also happens to be Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Disneyland is scheduled to be open 8 AM to 11 PM due to the expected large crowds.

The Children's Hospital of Orange County fundraiser, the CHOC Walk is Sunday, October 18th. Disneyland will open late at 10 AM that day, and DCA will open at 10:30 AM.

Tortilla Jo's Walk Up windows closed



Tortilla Jo's restaurant in Downtown Disney Anaheim has closed its walk-up windows and is remodeling the area into a Taqueria Margarita Bar area. The main restaurant and its bar across the way from the House of Blues remain open.

Gadget's Go Coaster in Toontown is getting a major refurb, including painting the track


Monorail Red is now operational and taking guests around the park again. They have version 4.0 of the Mark VII windows, the newest version do not open at the bottom, and just have the sliding window on the upper half.





One of the shops in New Orleans Square is getting a makeover and new name.


Halloween Bunting has arrived on Main Street. No pumpkins yet.


More of the Main entrance Plaza near the Kennels have been blocked off for pavement work.


The Kennels are still open, but you do have to access them through a normally backstage path.




The Grand Californian Hotel is relocating its evening Child Care center to the new wing, plus is bringing back the video arcade.


There still is some work left to be done on the GCH before they can finish up the project. (but the vast majority of the project is finished)


Work continues on the south end of the Dreams tower at the Disneyland Hotel










It has been over 5 months since Yamibuki's closed at PPH, but the Tomorroland Monorail Station still is telling you to stop by and get some sushi.
















Well, that should do it for this week, if you are looking for somewhere to eat, don't forget the Port of LA Lobsterfest and the Taste of Newport at Fashion Island events this weekend.

6. 	Thanks for the heads up on the new Motel6! I checked out prices for this weekend (Sat/Sun night) and there was still availability! Should be very happier with staying there (in new beds and everything!) compared to the Ramada up the road (the better looking one of the two in the area). Saving 27 bucks too! And that's without a military discount (Since I don't think M6 offers them).

9. 	Great to see the motel 6 revitalized. i have stayed there before because i get to take my dog with me. He loves it there. I have done the Knott's hotel package and i do not recomend it to anyone. That hotel is bad. My nephew and his family went a couple months ago and they ended up leaving and finding another hotel after the first day they were there.

10. 	How exciting to see that roof-thing (I believe that's the proper term )! Is that for Goofy's flight school? It looks like the top will move. How cute! Oh, wait, my bad. I just looked at the picture again and see another identical roof-thing in the distance to the left. It must be some sort of lighting thing, I'm guessing.

12. 	Note that ticket's for Knott's Haunt are a buck cheaper on their website, but have a $3 overall order fee added. Tickets are buyer-printable (only), but you don't have to purchase the tickets at Knott's. (I believe there's still free short-term parking at Knott's for such things.)

20. Edelwiess serving Turkey Legs????? When I think of Swiss food, can't help but think of all those wild rafters/flocks/gaggle/gobbles (whatever a group of them are called) of turkey's all over the Alps! (sheeesh, another ninny-brained food idea) Where's the Swiss Chocolate, Swiss Cheeses, Swiss pastries, How about a cheese soup served with bread - And DL could go the direction of German, Italian, or French type foods, with the various surrounding influences . . . LOTS of Choices, . . . . BUT TURKEY LEGS!?!?!?!?! DL food services must be satisfied with their continued downward trend in disatisfaction. The Motel 6, well, that's a mixed bag too! The orange color reminds me of the Old Howard Johnsons, and the 1970's. hahahahaha!!!! And the funishings in the rooms, blech. Looks like cheap IKEA put it together youself funiture and beds. If it's inexpensive to stay, maybe that might be ok, but really, is it going to stand up?????
