Yeah, it's Friday! I can bitch and moan about my bathroom remodel and my upcoming wedding (And yes, I LOVE Lisa, but she claims she is not Bridezilla... I tend to disagree). Thank goodness she doesn't read this column.

So since I can claim that the paint fumes are making me crazy, here is the latest....

Sorry Allie, couldn't resist this shot!

Quick update - 8:30 Am PDT

The new Disney Blogs website has the first look at the new Disney Gallery.

LOTS of Red Shirts in the park this weekend

So we have the Anaheim Angels going to the playoffs (OK, I should mention that the team is officially called the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) and that will bring out a lot of red shirts... but it is also the first weekend of October, which means that it is the "unofficial" Gay Days Weekend at Disneyland.

MiceChat will host a special Saturday Noon Meet at the Hub, and of course, the regular Noon Meet at the Hub on Sunday.

Here is the link to the Gay Days Anaheim schedule.

And FYI, there is also a major convention in Anaheim this weekend.

Want to rent a stroller? We will be happy to charge you $15 for a day!

This week, Disneyland raised its rental prices for Strollers and ECV's.

Here is the breakdown.

Strollers are $15 (no deposit required), 2 strollers can be rented for $25.

Manual Wheelchairs are still $12 ($32 at the register, but $20 is returned when you return it).

ECV's are now $50 ($70 with a $20 deposit returned at the end of the day).

The Walt Disney Musuem officially opens in San Francisco

Quote:

"I have to remind myself it's not Disneyland," said Wayne Haldorson, 48, who like his wife was wearing a Mickey Mouse baseball jersey top. "It's a museum."

The Haldorsons' 19-year-old daughter, Brooke Rich, agreed. "It's interesting," the teenager said, "but you have to like history."
Anybody willing to pay for a round trip ticket to San Francisco?

If not, I would check out this website LATER this weekend....

Steven is going to the Museum today, and should have photos up by Saturday.

Want to win a Tinkerbell Pimped Car? Sorry, you can't!

There is a new contest at the DLR, where they have a pimped out Honda Insight EX Hybrid on display, and is offering you a chance to win a Insight. But if you read the fine print, you will get a GENERIC Honda Insight, and not the Tinkerbell version.

Six Flags Magic Mountain will once again be tied with Cedar Point with 17 Roller Coasters

Brady MacDonald from the LA Times is reporting...

Quote:

Magic Mountain’s 17th roller coaster would move the Valencia amusement park into a statistical tie with Ohio’s Cedar Point for coaster supremacy, according to Roller Coaster Database.

Magic Mountain, which snatched the crown from Cedar Point around the turn of the millennium during a building binge, relinquished the title back to the Ohio park in 2008 after removing two aging coasters.
Anaheim GardenWalk goes Automated

FYI, if you park at the new Shoppertainment center, the Anaheim GardenWalk, you need to make sure and pay for parking at the self service machines as they have eliminated the staff manning the toll booths.

If you are directed to park at the AGW for Disneyland Theme Park parking, you will be handed a ticket to allow you to exit the facility when you pay or show your Parking Pass at entry.

The Union folks are now walking in Downtown Disney handing out flyers claiming "Shame on Disneyland Resort Hotel For Desecration of the American Way of Life".

OK, I am sorry there were no duck photos last week, here is a happy tween duck!

As always, thanks for checking in, and no matter what you do, have a great weekend! We'll see you in the parks.

Okay, so apparently people don't read the articles, either, because it specifically says that the car you win is not the Tink car, but a generic one.

Don't blame the union for cutting your wages. They're not the ones writing the checks.

Good Lord! It now costs more to rent an ECV scooter at Disneyland than it costs to rent some REAL cars for a day at AVIS Rent-a-Car! This is something I really wish they would give a passholder discount on. To rent an ECV practically DOUBLES the cost of your admission (one-park one-day ticket). A friend of mine is going to visit the park on her birthday which is Saturday the 17th. She had a botched hip surgery and cannot stand for prolonged periods of time. Even though her ticket will be free, I have insisted that I will cover the cost of the ECV for her. She has so much guilt over the cost of it that she is now talking about staying home instead because she doesn't want me to spend that much money on something that I am not receiving any benefit from. The final cost of $50.00 is still outrageous. We came for a one-park one-day visit to DL in February and the final cost was $35.00 plus $20.00 refundable deposit. For them to completely bypass the $40's and go straight to the $50.00 price point is shocking and inexcuseable. During the summer when these things sell out quickly, an ECV will bring in $1500.00 a MONTH! While I understand Disney's need to make a buck (How long is it going to be before the "Make-A-Wish" kids are asked to pay their own airfare and are given DISCOUNTED hotel accomodations to a "Disney Family" hotel? I see it coming!!!), They shouldn't be doing it on the backs of the people who can hardly walk or maybe not even walk at all. Most of the time these folks only do a few of the rides and sit patiently while others ride while they sit and admire the scenery. $70.00 out of pocket to get the key to an ECV? Heck, the more I think of it, the more I am swinging over to her idea of just staying home on her birthday. She refuses to let them rip ME off by paying for it and she absolutely refuses to pay that price herself...even with a free birthday ticket.

This reminds me of a recent day at Magic Mountain. They offer their guests the opportunity to get a big, screw top, 32oz. cup for "only" $12.99 with unlimited free refills on the day of purchase and $.99 refills when you bring the cup back throughout the 2009 season. Me and my girlfriend purchased one of these cups and toted it around the park. At every coaster we were told that we could not ride unless the cup was placed in a locker for the duration of our time on the coaster. Lockers cost $1.00 for an hour. Magic Mountain has tons of coasters and my blood pressure rose every time I had to "store" this d&%$ cup. Coasters that I have ridden for DECADES with my loose articles either firmly grasped or stufed into my tucked in t-shirt now required me to store this cup at a dollar a shot! When I reached the $8.00 mark, it became permenantly stored in a conveniently placed trash recepticle. I will do water fountains from now on. Pay toilets and fountains can't be too far off. How long before Disney puts mandatory lockers next to the queue of California Screamin'? Get ready folks, the future is nigh'. And I don't think Disney will bother with the dollar, they will probably bypass that measly sum and shoot straight to the 2's. $70.00 for an ECV chokes in my craw. And to do it to the people who are of limited mobility stinks!!!
