Once again, more crowds this week at the Disneyland Resort
Posted 11-06-2009 at 05:03 AM by In the Parks
Crowds, crowds, crowds - and Christmas, construction, and more crowds. OK, should we talk about sports, including the Super Clasico Playoff game this Sunday when the LA Galaxy hosts CD Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. - or should we talk about the Theme Parks and the expected large crowds (again)? Let's take a look at the parks! But first . . . Go Galaxy!

Jewel of Orleans in New Orleans Square has made a minor adjustment to its hours. This is the Estate Jewellery Store in the park, a great place to check out.

Is it just me or is the new fountain (toper metal thing) the ugliest thing on the face of the planet and it looks like from the photos its leaning out of level. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??? I was expecting a beautiful tile ceramic bowl topper for the fountain to be poring down fountains of spectacular water, which would be correct for a park in the 1920’s LA not the golden Zeffer monstrosity!!
Totally out of place and BAD SHOW!!
Thank you Darkbeer for the wonderful photos, the areas finally looks like its coming together and the rest of the area is going to be magnificent.Posted 11-06-2009 at 08:28 AM by MrToadie

No, the fountain topper is not the same one from atop the old Souvenir Shop, but does look similar. It is exactly what you would have seen in the old days of Santa Monica Pier and Coney Island-type attractions - which, by the way, is exactly what Paradise Pier is SUPPOSED to look like.
And, yes, MrToadie, you are right - the new tower is completely out of level because that's what Disney does... (sigh)
Maybe we should all wait until the project is actually finished before all the mud-flinging gets out of hand. Oh, and here's another news flash for all of you: All that plastic and the big hold in the ground for Ariel's new ride...? That's not finished either.Posted 11-06-2009 at 09:18 AM by LFTWNG9

Well let's wait to see the finished article, before we judge. I guess there are still more things to do with the structure yet.Quote:Is it just me or is the new fountain (toper metal thing) the ugliest thing on the face of the planet and it looks like from the photos its leaning out of level. There's no 11:15am Tiana's Showboat Jubilee showing on the show schedule for Sunday and the other show times are altered for that day, so, that may be a hint that they're filming that on Sunday.Posted 11-06-2009 at 09:23 AM by Sparky

Question, probably rhetorical, but a question nonetheless. Why did they put the Christmas tree out on the boardwalk, overlooking Paradise pier? They put a giant candy corn structure front and center for the Halloween "holidays", why not the Christmas tree? I know that their normal placement is disrupted due to the construction, but geez!
Oh yeah, GO GALAXY!! Real Salt Lake has dethroned the Crew, let's see what else the playoffs have in store!Posted 11-06-2009 at 09:25 AM by FREQDUDE

Well, SOMEBODY gets it, and has done some research on the time period Disney is shooting for! I agree! Let's wait until it's done! Our readers aren't stupid. And they are entitled to their opinions. As are you. Make your comments but don't attack others.

Dusty you are right, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But I never called anyone "stupid".
My opinion happens to be a positive one, as I reserve my judgement for AFTER I have all the facts, and I'm pretty sure my comment stated as much.
Miceage is supposed to be a Fan Community - and, you're right, sometimes that means fans voice their negativity. But asking another reader to reserve their own opinions because it comes across as an "attack" sounds more like selective censorship.
I'm sure you, of all people, would have to agree that Miceage has heard it's fair share of negative comments over DCA's lack of theming. Doesn't it seem odd that when the problem finally gets addressed that the negative comments just keep on coming?
Maybe this is the wrong place for my argument, and I truly hope my thoughts actually get posted (see the censorship comment above). But I see no harm in voicing a positive outlook toward a project that is, at least visually, still in it's infancy - and bringing that fact to other's attention.Posted 11-06-2009 at 12:31 PM by LFTWNG9
