9/3/08 - Monday in the Parks (Special Wednesday edition)-Refurbishment Photos & More
Hello, and welcome, yes, in case you missed it, we ran a normal Monday in the Parks article on Labor Day....
http://micechat.com/forums/blogs/mon...otos-tips.html
We are so lucky that the weather held in the gulf, and that Hurricane Gustav was as "weak" as it was, but alas, there are at least two more storms/hurricanes coming in the next week or two...
So here in the Southern Californian area we are VERY lucky... And we wish all those who might get affected by the storms in the next few weeks the best in our thoughts and prayers.
Disneyland Resort Closures and much more!
The day after Labor Day is always the large reduction in shows at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. The Summer is over, and it is time to cut back on labor costs, but also time to start Improvements/Refurbishments to the parks.
New Orleans Square area has a major section closed!

McDonald's says GOOD-BYE!

Alas, one stand had no removal...

Tomorrowland, a place to find new paths!

Ariel's Grotto Turntable is having a major change!

Selected Photos from Darkbeer.Smugmug.Com

I rode the Mark Twain Tuesday.....

The new Guide to the Magic, too bad you can't ride them

I just love the capacity of the internet for reaching consensus or truth through public discourse. No sooner is a typo made when it gets corrected. Sharp eye, orbitalpunk. I barely gave thought to why there was no underline under the link before I read your post exposing the reason.
Oh, and thank you for both updates, darkbeer. And yay, goodbye to McDonalds.Posted 09-03-2008 at 12:38 AM by nemopoppins

Darkbeer... Always great photos, sir. I for one am glad you're on the case or I'd never know what DL looked like living in the Midwest and all...
Also, an open request... Is there any way someone local to DL could get one of those park guides that Darkbeer posted above and put it in an envelope and mail it to me??? I'd be happy to pay for the service and postage. Either that or is there a way to get those guides from DL..? I would just REALLY like to have one of those for my DL room, and that attraction-poster-inspired cover art is really gorgeous.Posted 09-03-2008 at 07:43 AM by tonyrr1

I kind of like the Westward Ho wagon too myself. At least it's nicely themed to the area. Maybe they'll re-open with non-McDonald's food.Posted 09-03-2008 at 12:35 PM by Skippy

Yes, I also was wondering why everybody is so hateful towards the Westward Ho wagon. I had just assumed there was some past event/issue that I was out of the loop on, but now that others are asking also, could somebody please clear up why it is so despised?Posted 09-03-2008 at 03:00 PM by reddperc

I know a lot of folks seem to either really hate or have a strong dislike for McD's. However, there are times (especially when the kids are run down and cranky), when a "taste of familiarity" is welcome.
As for the wagon, I kind of like having it in Frontierland. Since McD's is gone (or soon will be), I wouldn't mind seeing frozen lemonade sold from the wagon, which could have the benefit of eliminating a cart from the pathway.Posted 09-04-2008 at 11:35 AM by ykiki
