At 7:45 AM on September 15th, Greg Emmer, former Senior Vice President, Disneyland Resort Operations, was honored for his almost 40 years of service to Disney Parks and Resorts in a private ceremony that was held in front of the Main Street Cinema.

A look at the location of the new window from Saturday

During his tenure, Greg Emmer led all aspects of the Park experience, and held several leadership positions at Walt Disney World, including: Vice President, Magic Kingdom Park; Vice President, Attractions Line of Business; and, Vice President, Epcot Operations.
In 2003, he returned to Disneyland to the Senior VP position, until he retired on February 8th, 2008.
Greg Emmer is still associated with his Alma Mater, Cal State Fullerton.
Greg Emmer
A Window on Main Street is one of the highest honors a Disneyland employee can receive, and Greg Emmer has earned his with a lot of hard work. One of his more recent contributions was working with Matt Ouimet to help restore Disneyland and prepare it for the 50th Anniversary.
On behalf of everyone at MiceAge/MiceChat, a sincere Congratulations and Thank You for all you did, and good luck in the future.
"What will Disney Celebrate?"
This Thursday, September 18th, Disney Parks and Resorts will have a major press conference in New York.
So what will Jay Rasulo announce, if you are looking for major new attraction information, don't get your hopes up.
The focus will be the announcement of a new Magical Celebrations marketing campaign for 2009.
This announcement will focus on the goal of selling Vacation Packages for the parks, and maybe even the Cruise Line and the new Disney owned properties in Hawaii and elsewhere.
We know one part of the announcement will deal with a 30 city "Disney Parks' Celebration Tour Street Team", as they have already recruited Cast Members to work the tour, which kicks off in Toronto, Canada on October 24th, and ends in Phoenix, Arizona on February 19th and 20th.
Of course, we will have more information about the event here at MiceAge/MiceChat News section Thursday.

But there is still a chance to view the event, as at the official website, www.disneyparks.com/miley, they are talking about a "online all-access pass" to be able to watch the entire event. No details are yet available, but check the website in a few weeks for more information.
And a side note, Congratulations to Adam Townsend for being named the "Big Cheese" for the OC Register's Around Disney Blog. We wish him, and Sonya Smith, who was the previous head blogger the best of luck in their new positions. (Sonya Smith remains at the OC Register, but in a new position).
Premium Annual Passholders renewal discount increases to $30

Deluxe AP's still get a $20 discount for renewals, $249 (compared to $269). The Southern California AP's still do not offer any sort of discount for renewing.
Ariel's Grotto Character Dining Menu Changes
Starting Wednesday, September 17th, Ariel's Grotto over at Disney's California Adventure will be getting a brand new menu, with more healthier food options, and eliminating the hamburgers and fried fish and chips. The menu will remain a one price fixed menu with three courses, an appetizer, a main course, and a mini-dessert. These changes are for the Main Meal portion of the day (Lunch/Dinner, same menu, same price). The Breakfast Menu will remain the same.

This weekend, Disney was experimenting with an express lane for those guests without any sort of bag. The location is at the East side Bag Check (The one that serves the Harbor Blvd Pedestrian Entrance and the Lion King Tram area). It is located on the North end (nearest Disneyland). It is just an experiment, and will not always be available.
ART adds a new route to Anaheim GardenWalk
The Anaheim Resort Transit has added a new route (Route 17), called the Garden Loop. It is an express service between the Disneyland Resort and the Anaheim Garden Walk, and is scheduled to run every 15 minutes. An all day ART pass is $3 for adults, and $1 for kids 3 through 9. Mickey's Trick-or-Treat Party Update
The special after-hour event at DCA has its first sell out, Friday, October 24th. Tickets for all remaining dates are available at www.disneyland.com ticket section.
Paradise Pier Construction Update

Once again, the closure of the Sun Wheel and related construction for the upcoming World of Color water show has been delayed until at least October 13th (and more than likely will be moved back to the 14th, as the 13th is a holiday for many students and most State and local government employees).
Tomorrowland Repavement Project update

Disney has extended the closure of the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters FastPass machines, and now are scheduled to reopen on October 20th. (The attraction itself is open, but with a shifted queue area). The current area being worked on is the South side in front of Star Tours and its main queue area. So be prepared for narrow pathways and congestion for the next few weeks.

Pixie Hollow is scheduled to open on October 28th

In the Annual Passholder section of Disneyland.com, they have placed the date of Tuesday, October 28th as the opening date for the new Pixie Hollow meet and greet location (the former Triton Gardens area).

Monorail Update

Currently the Mark V Monorail Purple and the Mark VII Monorail Red are serving guests. The off-season crowds and mild weather are helping the system run fairly smoothly.
Mark VII Monorail Blue has been approved for guest use, and might be on the track this week.
As always, Disney can restrict the Monorail to just Disney owned hotel guests or only allow one-way trips, if the queues get too long.

Disneyland expands the Fantasia Gardens Smoking Area

Recently, Disneyland moved the East side smoking area from the path leading to the Tomorrowland Train Station (a very bad choice) to the former Motor Boat Cruise dock near the entrance to the Matterhorn.
At first, they only had the rear half of the Dock marked for the Smoking Area, but due to the fact that many folks used the entire dock, and to prevent complaints, the entire dock is now marked for smoking. The main benefit of this location, it is a dead end and off the main pathway.
