Inspired by SkeletonStockings' thread: http://micechat.com/forums/disneyland-resort/119940-lizzis-character-photography.html I have decided to...

Inspired by SkeletonStockings' thread: http://micechat.com/forums/disneylan...otography.html I have decided to create a blog post for a few of my Disneyland character photos. These come from my photostream, which can be viewed here: Flickr: Danielle K.V.'s Photostream

Now.... I can't decide which one is better (editing wise), so help me out here!

Yes, they are different photos. With the one on the left I used a more natural lighting approach and hardly edited it. I boosted the brightness and saturation, but also lowered the contrast just slightly.

On the right, I glorified it with more of a hint of blue, brightened it, and added more saturation. Also, I added a tint of green. I can't choose which one I like more, but the depth of field is nice and overall it's a cute photo.

Bahaha, I love Cruella. This is my favorite shot I have of her.

The one thing I'm a little bummed about with this photo is that ToonTown is over-exposed in some spots, but nonetheless a good shot.

There's a little story behind the photo, and it goes something like this:

Goofy was walking around ToonTown, and he walked by his car. At first, I thought he was getting confused about his car running into the mailbox. Well, seeing as how most likely he did it himself, I ruled that case out. Then I noticed that the steering wheel was moving by itself, and I guess Goofy was astonished by the movement of the steering wheel. The End.

Creating magic, one cursed autograph book at a time...

The Queen of Hearts did not approve of the Mad Hatter's joke.

I absolutely love this photo. I really dislike taking photos of character with random people around them, but this mom and her child really captivated me for some odd reason.

LOVE Bert! This was taken with my Minolta SRT-101 which can be seen in this blog: http://micechat.com/forums/blogs/mon...ld-camera.html

*And yes, this was taken during Celebrate! A Street Party!*

Yay more parade pictures!

Hokay that's all I have for now. Check out my photostream if you'd like to some more. I also have non-character goodies there too!

Thanks for viewing.

Hi everyone. I hope you're all having a great Saturday thus far.

If you're a member of the photo sharing website Flickr and if your photostream mainly contains photos of the Disneyland Resort, then here's a group that you might want to be a part of as you can be published!

Around Disney is a blog within the OC Register that talks about Disneyland and SoCal areas. They host a group on Flickr called "OCR Around Disney" who look for your photos of the Disneyland Resort. Every Friday they pick three photos within the group to be spotlighted on their "Around Disney Flickr Friday Photo Feature". I've been picked three times :). Here are the articles where my photos were showcased:

July 17, 2009:
http://ocresort.freedomblogging.com/...ature-2/11919/

August 14, 2009:
http://ocresort.freedomblogging.com/...gust-14/15035/

August 21, 2009:
http://ocresort.freedomblogging.com/...gust-21/15533/

I know that a couple of Micechatters have had their photos featured on this blog. Another cool thing that may occur is that the photo be published in a hard copy of the OC Register on an upcoming Sunday!

Here's the Flickr group link:
http://www.flickr.com/groups/ocrarounddisney/

If your photo does get selected, they will contact you for more information such as your full name and city of residence. Make sure that the photos are from the Disneyland Resort ONLY.

Have fun, and if you join the group I hope to see your photos being featured!

Wow, it's been 2 months since I've updated my blog for all you lovely people. Well, nothing much has been going on. I sprained my ankle last Thursday at Disneyland and it's healing nicely, but also very slowly. I've been taking many, many, MANY pictures of Disneyland/DCA parades, which I mainly do for my friends who are in entertainment.

I'm working on a "project", which a lot of people are doing but I wanted to jump on the bandwagon. I've started a "One picture a day for a year" set on Flickr, which you can see here:

[I deleted the set because I didn't keep up with it...]

The description of the set explains the motives. I'm curious to see how long I can do this before I forget. Hopefully I won't.

Well, anyways, that's all. Have a good week everyone!

_*Top 10 Favorite Disneyland...

Now, I don't remember if I did one of these earlier when I got my Gold account, but I will do one anyways!

Top 10 Favorite Disneyland Rides/Attractions:

10. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room - I think it's the originality and classic feel of this attraction that gets me. I also LOVE the music.

9. Star Tours - Nostalgia plays a big role in my love for this. I remember going on this with my mom, right after she bought me a pair of GOOD plastic Minnie ears (the headband - I hate the fuzzy ones that they sell now) and how I used to pretend to be Captain Rex's co-pilot. Also, my dad loved Star Wars and this ride makes me think of him when I ride it.

8. Pinocchio's Daring Journey - It's the dark ride I've been on the most since I renewed my pass this year, and I love it! The entrance into Pleasure Island is my favorite part of the ride.

7. Pirates of the Caribbean - I used to not really like this ride, just because of the people who wouldn't listen to the CMs and would take pictures. But they've recently doing a very good job of keeping that under control, even if it means disturbing the atmosphere and coming over the PA to tell people to stop with flash. Even though I'm not fond of Barbossa taking over Blackbeard's spot on the ship, I think it's okay. I love a good portion of the animals (especially the pigs with the sleeping, drunk pirate). And of course, the Red Head :).

6. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride - The original cars are what gives me a happy feeling. I'm very happy to have this ride at Disneyland, and I hope that they don't pull it out to put in a let down dark ride.

5. Space Mountain - This ride gets better and better everytime I ride because something I haven't seen/felt before happens. The soundtrack to this is absolutely amazing. Even though I don't really like the queue, the ride definitely overshadows it.

4. Splash Mountain - OH. What can I say about this? I don't really have a childhood attachment to this ride, but the love has grown so much ever since I've been an APer. This is the only ride I regret going on almost every single time, but I love it so much.

3. Casey Jr. Circus Train - Yes. This is my 3rd favorite ride in Disneyland, and my favorite ride in Fantasyland. It's me and my bestfriend's "BFF" ride. We HAVE to go on it everytime we go to Disneyland. I love the tiny thrills it brings, I love how you're able to go through Storybookland without going on the canals. I love waving at people when we pass Storybookland's queue. It's just a fun ride.

2. Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye - Do I need to go into detail? I love the fact that the theming was so well done, and everytime I go on it I see something new.

1. Haunted Mansion - Every since I was a little girl, I was always fascinated by the tricks and techniques used to make this ride magical. I remember watching something on ABC one year about the Magic behind the Magic and Haunted Mansion's dining hall scene was part of the special. They explained the Pepper's Ghost trick and how the ghosts dancing weren't holograms. I ran to my dad (Whose favorite ride was HM) and told him this and he was very proud to hear his little girl telling him something he didn't know. Ever since then, I've been in love with this ride, learning something new everytime, going onto Doombuggies.com and reading things I already knew. I love it so much.

Top 10 Favorite DCA Rides/Attractions:

10. Heimlich's Choo Choo Train - "I don't want to put carrots in my AYES!" Best line of the entire ride. This is so cute, and it's actually pretty well excuted.

9. Golden Zephyr - A very relaxing ride, and it's a perfect ride to see the construction in the lagoon.

8. Muppet Vision 3-D - I love the Muppets, so this is a good thing for me :)

7. Soarin' Over California - If the line wasn't so long, I would ride this more. And, in all honesty, the film gets a little old, but I love the soundtrack and the feeling of flying.

6. It's Tough To Be a Bug - Favorite 3-D movie attraction in DCA.

5. Francis' Ladybug Boogie - Ok, so you're probably thinking, "What the heck Danielle?!" but I truly do like this ride. It's like the teacups except without all the work and also if you know the trick then you're going to have a good time.

4. Tower of Terror - I love thrills, and this definitely gives me a good one! I still get a little antsy before the first drop even though I know it's coming.

3. Monster's Inc!: Mike & Sulley To The Rescue! - Ok yeah, just because I'm MGB I have to have this in my Top 5. I love how they recycled a good chunk of Superstar Limo to create this ride. It's cute, and it fuels my Monster's Inc. love.

2. California Screamin': YES YES YES. Such a kick butt roller coaster. The soundtrack rules and I love riding it at night time. Hate the bunny hops, but I love the rest of it.

1. Toy Story Midway Mania - Too much love for this ride. I like the thrill level of spinning, while being immersed into a toy world, and playing a game!

Top 10 Favorite Disneyland/DCA Things to Eat/Drink:
(This doesn't include Downtown Disney)

1. Nachos at White Water Snacks
2. Monte Cristo
3. Dole Float
4. Mint Julep
5. Frozen Apple Juice
6. Churro
7. Chimichanga
8. Mozzarella Sticks
9. Clam Chowder in a bread bowl
10. Funnel Cake

The End!

I haven't update here in a while, so I guess I'll do it now since I don't want to go to bed at the moment.

I've recently gotten into a few bands/artists lately. One of them is The Gaslight Anthem. They're a band from New Jersey that is mainly defined with the "punk rock" tag. They're currently on tour on their own, but soon to be opening for Bruce Springsteen. The video for their song "Great Expectations" came out just a couple days ago and it's awesome.

Great Expectations video (Sorry, for some reason the embedding isn't working :():
YouTube - The Gaslight Anthem "Great Expectations"

You can also go here to listen to more of their stuff: The Gaslight Anthem ? Listen free and discover music at Last.fm

(Miles Davis & The Cool is my favorite song of theirs! A part of the song is in my signature.)

Another artist I got into recently was The Lonely Island. Andy Samberg (SNL Cast Member) Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer (both SNL writers) make up this comedic, "fake MC" trio. Their songs are nothing short of amazing and hilarious. The album "Incredibad" was released on February 10th, 2009, and with the CD purchase you also got the DVD with some of their videos such as "Lazy Sunday" and "Space Olympics". Of course, some the videos (Such as "J*** In My Pants" and "We Like Sportz") are on YouTube. There are also guest singers on the album such Jack Black, Chris Parnell, Natalie Portman, and Norah Jones. There is a parental advisory sticker due to language and other things, but if you can tolerate the crude humor that this album portrays, it's definitely a fantastic purchase. My mom loves this album, my brother loves this album, almost all of my friends love it... I think previewing songs is the best idea before buying it, so I suggest going to Last.FM and listening there.

Something I've learned about myself lately was that I don't really like looking up the lyrics to songs to learn the words. I guess you can call me old fashioned, but I love just listening to the song until I learn the words.

So I hope you enjoyed my music review/referral. :)

I downloaded the trial version of Photomatix a couple weeks ago and started playing with it. Since I don't have a DSLR camera and make due with what I have, I try to get the best possible shots my camera is capable of capturing. I usually fail on dark rides at Disneyland. BUT, I took some of my ToonTown pictures (since ToonTown is beautiful with it's colors) and I cheated my way into making an HDR picture.

I know this is something that you either hate or love, but I love the fact that it looks so surreal. I also did one of the former Golden Dreams dome:

I also played with the drawing tools in GIMP and made this.

Haha, I'm a bored soul.

Well, I'm signing off for now. Bye!

- Danielle

Nothing special here. Just wanted to blahblahblah for a little bit.

I am really REALLY excited for the new Star Trek movie coming out in May. Some of you probably know that Zachary Quinto is my favorite actor, and I used to be a huge Star Trek fan when I was younger. When I found out he was playing Spock in the new movie, I yippee'd and squealed like the ZQ fangirl I am. :D Yay!

I am also excited for the Queensryche concert in April which is happening at HOB in Anaheim. Looking forward to see my 2nd favorite band with my brother and possibly my mom, so it would be our first family concert. You can never have enough of Queensryche.

There are three songs of theirs that I cannot decide which one is my favorite. (None of these are my videos)

Take Hold of the Flame:
YouTube - Queensryche video - "Take Hold of the Flame"

Hand on Heart:
YouTube - Queensryche - Hand on heart

And the last one has two versions, I'm very fond of the one with just the piano, but dang, both versions are amazing.

Someone Else w/ full band:
YouTube - Queensr˙che - Someone else? * (With full band)

Someone Else just piano. The person who made the video got the title wrong ><. I have no idea why it says Anybody Listening at the beginning (which is also an amazing song off the Empire album).
YouTube - Queensryche - Somebody Else With Lyrics

Enjoy those songs, I know I do :).

But yeah, that's it for now.

Thank you!

I had a very interesting Christmas Day, let me tell you.

My brother and I had to leave for Van Nuys around 12:30p because my aunt was having Christmas at her house again. We were the first people there (which really was surprising because we got out of the house later than I expected). It was a normal Christmas. Open gifts, eat food, play Bingo for prizes, mix and mingle with the relatives, yada yada yada. Then it was time to leave. We had planned a couple days before to go up to Lancaster from my Aunt's house because it they offered. So, my brother and I followed our grandparents up the 405N and then onto the 14N. Shawn and I were singing along to Disney songs because we were in a great mood and had a great night. As we were hitting the Summit up near Red Rover Rd. (or the sign that says "Red Rover in 1 mile"), my grandpa starting going a little bit faster. To catch up with him, I started putting the gas pedal down, when all of a sudden I wasn't going faster.... I was slowing down! I let go of the gas to see if I did something wrong and then put my foot down on the pedal. Nothing. So I put my emergency flashers on and pulled over.

I was so scared. 1) Because it was 9:30pm and I had no clue where I was. 2) It was freezing outside. It was about 28 degrees with the wind blowing when I broke down. No bueno. 3) I seriously thought my car imploded or something because it was making the worst grinding noises I've ever heard. Shawn called my grandma who noticed that we weren't behind them anymore. They turned around to come and find us. Shawn and I sat in the car, by ourselves, for a good 10 minutes before they caught up to us. I had no idea what had just happened with my car, seeing that my coolant and gas were alright and no other signals on my dash were on.

Called AAA, they came out around 10:15p and jump started my car since my battery died at the same moment. We got the engine going, and I attempted to drive it, it didn't go anywhere. That's when my grandpa realized that my transmission was blown. The AAA guy would've towed us back to Lancaster (which was 25 miles from where we were), but he got another call right after we jump started the car and I was like well WHATTHEHECK?! So instead, we pushed my car off to the side of the road, and then drove back into Lancaster. I was crying the entire ride back, just because I was still scared and flustered and worried about what was going to happen. I mean, I could get a new transmission, but to purchase one would be more than my car value and that ain't worth it at all.

So, this morning was also very eventful. My grandpa had a nylon tow rope, and we drove back out to where my car was so we can get it off the freeway before someone else took it off and I would get charged and blah blah blah. This was a very interesting experience. I got to have someone pull my car, while I hit the brakes and steered for 18 miles! When we were in the 2 mile stretch, some jerk who was tailgating me (WITH MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON BY THE WAY) almost hit my car when we was trying to change lanes, and it caused me to run over the tow rope and break it. Yep. That was the scariest moment of my life just because I had no way to speed up to move out of someone's way for anything. I'm just glad that my brakes didn't give out, though.

Shawn was on the phone with my grandma the entire time but she wasn't paying attention when he was trying to tell her that the rope broke. Oh man, Shawn was screaming into the phone the whole 2 minutes this incident happened.

We're alright, the car... Not so much. Turns out that I might be needing a new battery also. Woo! Hopefully my uncle can get my transmission at a lower cost than my car (He's an auto mechanic) and a new battery. Now my only worry is how I'm going to get my car back down to Orange County. This will be yet another interesting few days.

Well, I hope you all had a great Christmas! :D

This beautiful cat is Delilah. I've had her since June of 2007 and she's lightened up my life so much, even with two other cats! Right now, she's sleeping just a couple feet away from me with her face planted into the carpet. So cute! :D

Based on her eyes, she has some sort of "-mese" in her. My mom and I think it's Siamese, but we're unsure.
She's also the talker and the troublemaker out of all my cats. I love her though!

Wow, that was a long title.

As many of you may or may not know, I love to sing. I've been doing it since I was a wee one and I took singing lessons for 4 years (Age 12-16) and then joined my high school choir my junior year before transferring schools. I haven't stopped doing it, even after my transfer and graduating high school. Anyways, let's start the list.

Non-Disney Songs:

1. Blackbird - The Beatles (More specifically, the Evan Rachel Wood version from Across the Universe because of the tempo).
2. You Can't Stop The Beat - From Hairspray
3. Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again - The Phantom of the Opera
4. Someone Else? - Queensryche
5. I Know Where I've Been - Hairspray
6. Seasons of Love - From RENT
7. Wuthering Heights - The Pat Benatar version (Not the creepy child sounding one. Ew.)
8. Witchy Woman - The Eagles
9. Lights - Journey
10. On My Own - Les Miserables

Disney Songs:

1. Colors of the Wind - Pocahontus
2. Just Around the Riverbend - Pocahontus
3. I Won't Say (I'm In Love) - Hercules
4. Part of Your World - The Little Mermaid
5. Everybody Wants To Be a Cat - Aristocats
6. Chim Chim Cher-ee - Mary Poppins
7. He Lives In You - Lion King II: Simba's Pride
8. I Can Go The Distance - Hercules
9. Once Upon A Dream - Sleeping Beauty
10. Sally's Song - The Nightmare Before Christmas

:D

Well, the camera is an SR-101 by Minolta, but I'm pretty sure the T is just a slight upgrade of the SR. It was released in 1974-1976.

I am so happy I was able to find this. My grandpa gave me this camera when he had to move from Garden Grove down to Ladera Ranch, and they could only take so much. He knew I was getting into photography and gave me a 35mm camera and a few lenses. Here are those lenses.

The big lense is full extended. Near the glass, it reads, "Sun Zoom YS-70 1:4 70-210mm NO. 728708 Sun Opt".

The lense on the left came with the camera, and then one on the right is a macro lense. "Albinar ADG 28mm 1:28 macro focus No. 84133642 52mm"
I don't know what the four disks are called, but one of them is a Skylight 55mm 1A. And then the other three are close-ups +1, +2, +3 55mm.

I put this into a box in my closet because I had no room for it and I had no money to pay for film. Now that I do, I'm going to try to use it as much as possible. Oh, and I am going to try to get that lense into Disneyland. Haha, I've seen worse since they've enforced that rule. Anyways, have a great weekend!

This past week has been filled with them, all of the same band, Tiger Army. I'm always a little cautious with concerts, especially with those of the punk, metal, or psychobilly scene. Moshpits start, there is a possible chance of fights breaking out, and people are known to take advantage of others by pushing their way to the front. I always consider others before myself and I am the strong believer of the "first-come-first-serve" basis. I HATE it when someone tries to con someone else by telling them that "Oh, I was looking for someone up in the front, and I can't see around you, can you let me in front of you?" This happened on Sunday with someone by me. This guy was trying to push in front of a group of girls, and this HUGE dude who didn't even know the girls went up to the guy and told him to back off. It was fabulous. I've very good at standing my ground when crowds surge forward, as I have very strong legs.

I do go to concerts with seats, but I like standing up, dancing, and head banging more. I seem to have a better time.

Here are a couple photos from Thursday and Sunday:

THURSDAY 10/23/08 -

SUNDAY 10/26/08 -

And I think I am in love with Geoff (he plays stand up bass):

He looked into my camera for this one:

My friend and I were about 10 feet from them, so it was pretty awesome. I have one more of their concerts to go to on Halloween, and I can't wait. WE GET TO MEET THEM! :D

Thanks for reading.

There is a lot of cool stuff happening at the moment that I would like to share.

Last week I got a call from my friend James who is part of the National Exchange Club. I met him when I received an award and scholarship for overcoming a struggle in my life (which was the loss of my father) and being a role model in my community through volunteer work. When I received those two things, I asked him if I can join the National Exchange Club. He said yes, and then told me I'll be the youngest member within their district. Haha. Well, I am now an official member of the NEC as I went to a meeting Wednesday morning and signed up. A couple of the members I've met before, and they're going to help me find a job before I start school in Spring, either through their company/job or through a referral.

Their website:
National Exchange Club

I've already been recommended to be secretary for the South Orange County Club. :D I have to work my way up first though.

Second, I'm going to a concert today and then one on Sunday. The band is called Tiger Army and I'm excited because today I'm going with someone who I haven't seen since June and we've been trying to hangout for ages. On Sunday, I'm going with my friend Ana (who many of you have seen from my TR a few weeks ago).

Third, my friends Jenny and Kelli are going to be heading up to L.A. with me to meet Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) and comic book artist Tim Sales for the signing of Milo's new comic book "Rest". I have a bigger crush on Zachary Quinto than on Milo, but I think I might fan girl anyways because hey, he's a Hero (who is SUPER cute).

Fourth, I get to carve a pumpkin! Yay! First time since 2001 I've done it and it wasn't a fake one. I have no idea what I'm going to do, but I really want to put Oogie on it. I need to find a stencil first...

The next 2 weeks are going to be filled with so much driving, but hopefully it'll be worth it. :D
