Ian Parkinson continues his Adriatic Adventure, this week sharing photos of his stop in Dubrovnik.
Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea coast in the extreme south of Croatia, positioned at the terminal end of the Isthmus of Dubrovnik. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations on the Adriatic, a seaport and the centre of Dubrovnik-Neretva county. Its population was 43,770 in 2001 down from 49,728 in 1991. In the 2001 census, 88.39% of its citizens declared themselves as Croats. In 1979, the city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
The prosperity of the city of Dubrovnik has always been based on maritime trade. In the Middle Ages, as the Republic of Ragusa, it became the only eastern Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Supported by its wealth and skilled diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries. Ragusa was one of the centres of the development of primarily the Croatian language and literature, home to many notable poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars.*

Here's part two of Marcia G.'s trip to South America.

MiceChatter MKCoastie took a trip to Hershey Park this summer and shared a few photos with the Weekend Update.
Hershey Park
Hershey, Pennsylvania

Welcome to HersheyPark, a chocolate lover's paradise and a theme park steeped in history. HersheyPark first opened in 1907 as entertainment for the employees of Hershey's chocolate factory. This 101 year old park is a must visit if you're in the area.

The "Kissing Tower" is one of the first structures you can see when approaching the park.

With 11 roller coasters, you find yourself surrounded by coaster tracks throughout a good portion of the park. SuperDooperLooper (the dark blue track) was the first looping roller coaster on the east coast.

Although much of the park seems crowded by rides and coasters, there are some really beautiful spots that can be found.

I didn't get to try the BBQ, but it smelled good.

Just a nice area to rest that shows some of the landscaping featured throughout the park.

The park features a little monorail that takes you on a round trip through the park, past the chocolate factory and to the edge of downtown Hershey. It has only 1 station, making it strictly an attraction and not a mode of transport, but it was still a nice little ride with some history included to boot.

The Boardwalk is one of the newer areas of the park and features many of the park's water attractions.

The park literature claims that this is the largest water play structure in the world. It certainly is impressive.

The newest attraction is a roller coaster called Fahrenheit which features a 97 degree drop. Yikes.

Admission to HersheyPark also includes admission to ZooAmerica which is a North American wildlife park. This is the entrance from within the park.
And that brings us to the end of another week. Our photographers have just enough time to reload their cameras before we see you all again next weekend. Thank you to all of our wonderful readers, and as always, a huge thank you to our amazing team of global photographers, spies, and gossips:

Wow outstanding update this week. I really enjoyed Universal Studios Japan since I have been to both Hollywood and Orlando versions I really enjoyed looking at this park and all it's wonderful differences. I have only seen the Peanuts characters from Knotts and Cedar Point and I would love to see the Land of Oz. It's a shame Disney couldn't snag that concept for MGM.Posted 09-27-2008 at 11:18 AM by AstroBlaster

Same as the Broadway show, but only that USJ's version is a condensed 30 minuted theme park edition, but the quality of the production is very nice. You can search this on Youtube and see videos of the show shot by park guests.Quote:Originally Posted by Sir ClinksalotWhat is the WICKED show??? Details Mr. TDLFAN!!!

I love the Universal Japan pics, it's funny to see how certain aspects of America are depicted overseas.
