![]() | I'm a fan of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Bentley Little's novels for starts. I like how they take ordinary people and thrust them into supernatural situations. I'm looking for more good modern day fiction about supernatural and/or monster type horror. Can anyone suggest authors and or novels whom I should be on the look out for? My favorite novels along these lines are the following... "The Resort" - Bentley Little "Phantoms" - Dean Koontz "Desperation" - Stephen King "The Dark Tower" series - Stephen King (sure, that doesn't quite fit but it's a killer series) "TickTock" - Dean Koontz "The Shining" - Stephen King "Insomnia" - Stephen King "Dreamcatcher" - Stephen King ...and yes, I have read The Stand

![]() | Re: Looking for good supernatural / monster horror novels... I Am Legend, great book, lousy movie. Check the book out though. Bloodsucking Fiends and You Suck by Chris Moore- two vampire books with good laughs and a great story. I hear Heart Shaped Box by Owen Hill is excellent. |

![]() | Re: Looking for good supernatural / monster horror novels... "A Boy's Life" by Robert McGammon was pretty good. "The Ruins" was the very definition of a page turner. And, even tho it was proven to be a fake..."the Amityville Horror" is good for a jolt. "World War Z" is fun; "I am Legend" is excellent but short. Peace, Roo

![]() | Re: Looking for good supernatural / monster horror novels... Try Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles books. They're WAY better than the couple movies that came out. Also since you like Stephen King, check out The Talisman, which was co-written with Peter Straub. It's one of my favorites and they even wrote a sequel, Black House. These books are related to the Dark Tower series too. Actually, a lot of Stephen King's books are related to The Dark Tower. Needful Things is really good (the movie sucked though) You should check out some of his collections of short stories like Nightmares & Dreamscapes and Everything's Eventual. Oh and the books he wrote as Richard Bachman... The Long Walk is freaky.

![]() | Re: Looking for good supernatural / monster horror novels... Don't get this book mixed-up with the X-Files novel Ruins. The X-Files: Ruins by Kevin J. Anderson is also a good book.
