    Parade Performer Salary

    Hey Guys-
I'm new to the page, and I am thinking about auditioning next week for the Electric Light Parade at DLR. My question is this...I'm not asking what you are paid, but is the salary of a parade performer enough to live off, or do you need to find supplemental work?

No. I do not know what the pay is (other than it should be more than the base rate than most CMs) but, for the most part they really only ever 4 hours shifts, maybe 6 during peak time. Then during non-peak times there frequently are no parades at all.
Performers have a fantastic time doing their job, but supplemental income is a must.

Thanks so much for the reply. I would love to do it no matter the pay, but I don't know of it would work out for us. My husband won't move down if that's the case

I can't comment on the pay rate because it's not publicly listed by Disney, however, the Parades department is one of the headrest departments to get full time or even regular hours in. PM

Character Performers are one of the higher-paid hourly roles at the Disneyland Resort, making $10.00/hour to start.

    Disneyland Career Opportunities

While I have no clue as to what they make, I would assume that the rest of Entertainment makes somewhere around that rate.

    Re: Parade Performer Salary

Back in my day, early 90's, the parade dancers were not paid much at all. Just over minimum. I was working in night custodial when my department was looking at lay offs. So, I started looking around for someplace I could transfer to. I was surprise how much less the parade dancers made. These were the "generic" dancers, not the named characters. (No, I wasn't going to try out as a dancer. I was looking for more parade support stuff and saw the dancers' rate)

Again, it was back in the old days, so I can't comment on what it is now.

Thanks guys. Ya I saw that the character performers made $10/hr and was suprised by that.

Hmm Decisions, decisions. This would be so fun, although I would be fine picking up garbage at DL. I just love to be there.

Character performers do not start at $10/hour. Face character performers do start well over $10/hr, however.

The only way to make money in parades is to get approved for characters and pick up shifts until you get enough hours.

That's assuming there's shifts to pick up...these days - not so much.

Our custodial department does much more then simply pick up garbage. One of the most inspirational Disneyland Cast Members I know spent 20 years in Custodial, and it was one of his favorite departments. Custodial is the Resort's walking informational centers, they are lost and found, they're the Magic makers, they're a huge part of Walt's original dream of a clean place for families to go to enjoy themselves.

I know you weren't knocking the department, but I know quite a few Cast Members who seem to look down on Custodial.

$0.75 premium over base rate. Or are you referring to something else?

Some of you know my son works 3rd shift and boy does he have some stories. He has finally found a niche that he enjoys and the night hours fits his lifestyle, so as for right now he's happy. Others on 3rd shift aren't so happy.

    Not in Lakeside anymore
