Re: Question about Main Entrance Pass and WDW

Well, when they added it all up I was "in the negatives" so as a courtesy the girl at Cast Admissions called one of her managers and put me at six. I should have had eight left for the year, but I wasn't going to argue.

What sucked is that I flew back to SoCal a few weeks ago and my MGP was revoked in Galaxy... so I had to use a comp. pass to get into DLR.

So I blew a comp. pass AND lost two sign-ins. Sigh.

Re: Question about Main Entrance Pass and WDW

I swear all these sign in rules are so confusing! I wish they'd have a stragiht answer. I just got my pass a few days ago. I have 2 months to use it up! Friday will be my first time using it, so how does it work? When I get to the turnstiles do I just give them the card and they'll give me the proper amount of tickets(including myself)? Or do I give them the card then my ID for my ticket? And how does the whole internet thing work????? I herd you can print out the tickets online, but when I tried, it said I had no tickets available. Gosh this is all so confusing! Thanks for the help!

^The online tickets you're referring to are complimentary tickets, which are completely separate from the Main Entrance Pass.

As for using the Main Entrance Pass, just go up to the turnstile with your Cast ID and MEP, tell them how many people you are signing in, CM prints out tickets for each of you, done!

As for signing people in while in costume, it seems to vary based on the CM. I was always told to sign people in at the turnstile and then leave (i.e. don't go through the turnstile with them) but a few weeks ago the CM told me to go through with my guests. It was kind of awkward. I just went to the nearest backstage entrance. :P

And make sure that when you receive the tickets from the Main Gate CM...that YOU take the CM ticket...don't let your guests get it...if they have it and go parkhopping and don't show proper ID, they will not allowed in to the park. You are supposed to show your ID anytime you use the CM ticket...

Comp tickets are given to CM twice a year...during the summer and at Christmas time!

It doesn't necessarily have to be your Cast ID. I typically use my driver license, since I keep that and my Main Gate Pass in my wallet, and my Cast ID in a retractable ID holder.

Re: Question about Main Entrance Pass and WDW

Some last minute questions before I go on my trip (it's only 2 weeks away!).

Can I make use of Extra Magic Hours with a blue pass? It says you need to present a valid theme park ticket and resort ID, but I'm not sure my blue pass counts as a valid ticket...especially if I'm going to a morning session and don't yet have a printed ticket for the day...Any ideas?

Also, is it the same procedure as DLR? Get in line at the turnstiles, present the pass + ID, get a printed parkhopper that can be used at any park all day?

Finally, can I visit a park alone for a little while and then sign people in later during the day? I know you're not supposed to - for example - sign in two people and then later add another person to your "sign-in." But does the same rule apply if I'm in the park myself and then want to sign 3 people in?

Yes, as long as you're staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you're elgible for Extra Magic Hours. If you're coming in the morning, just present your Cast ID and Main Entrance Pass and they'll take care of you.

As to how it works, it's a little different here than at DLR. The process of signing yourself in is basically the same. However, unlike at DLR, there is a dedicated turnstile for Cast Members using their Main Entrance Passes. When approaching the Main Entrance, look for a turnstile usually located to the far left or right that is marked as "Cast Member Entrance".

Regardless of how many people are being signed in, you can only utilize your sign in benefits once daily. As such, everyone, yourself included, who you will be sigining into the parks that day must be present when you first enter the parks. You cannot "add" people after your initial sign in.

Even though using a blue pass for yourself isn't considered a sign-in on your yearly count? That's odd. Could I just ask the CM to count it as a separate sign-in? I don't mind.

Re: Question about Main Entrance Pass and WDW

It's not so much that your entires aren't counted*. It's that Company Policy prohibits Main Entrance Passes, with the possible exception of those issued to VIPs and Executives, from being used more than once per day to sign people in.

Even if you are entering by yourself, you are still technically signing yourself into the Parks, since you aren't a Florida-Site CM and can't use your ID to admit yourself into the parks.

Once the Main Entrance Pass has been used for the day, the turnstile computers recognise this. They won't allow the CM to use the Main Entrance Pass again that same day to issue tickets.

*I'm not so sure that it's even the case anymore that your usages won't be counted. There have been some changes to the Main Entrance Pass here in Florida - most notably, FT/CR Hourly Cast now get 16 usages like California instead of the former 12.

The flipside of that, rumour has it, is that Cast visiting a Resort outside of their own will have their usages counted. The previous practice of not counting usages was technically a courtesy extended to vacationing CMs - it's never been an official policy of the company. With the recent changes that have combined DLR Ticketing and WDW Ticketing into a single organization serving both resorts, it wouldn't surprise me all that much.

Well, I guess I'll find out!

I wish Disney would address these questions in their FAQ and pass usage guidelines. They're rather simple questions.

Re: Question about Main Entrance Pass and WDW

Yay, so I don't think sign-ins at WDW count toward my DLR limit, because none of my sign-ins are listed on my usage list on The Hub (other than my DLR ones).

I had a lot of fun. It was a little bit confusing, though. Why don't the CM's print me, the Cast Member, my own paper ticket like they do for my guests? Every time I visited a different park in the same day (after already signing myself and my guests in), my blue pass wouldn't let me in the park and the CM would have to manually override the turnstile...Then, my pass wouldn't give me FastPasses in that park and I kept having to badger CM's into giving me those little key card things...What's up with all this confusion? You would think they would know all of the ins and outs of sign-in passes...and yet I could never re-enter without issues. It's like the turnstile would automatically see that I already used the pass and wouldn't let me in, even though I'm just re-entering. My guests' tickets always worked fine with no problems.

Yea I had the same issues also when I was just there. It really perplexed me at first but then I realized thats just how they do things there. You would think they could adopt a slightly better process.

This one's fairly simple to explain. Florida-Site Cast use our Cast IDs for all of those purposes. We use it to re-enter and parkhop when we sign people in on our Main Entrance Passes, and we use it at all times to obtain Fastpasses.

As a non-Florida-Site Cast Member, you should have received a Readmission Ticket. However, some Cast Members (particularly right now, since we have all these new CPs and ICPs coming in) forget that little nuance. Generally, if they don't do it automatically, you have to ask them to get their Coordinator (Working Lead), who will generally have a stack of them (preprinted that morning) to distribute.
