Help from a cast member or former cast member maybe?

So, rumor is a huge layoff is about to take place at my work. Been applying every where and with the way the economy is have not received any replies just yet.

I was curious if any cast members can share your two cents about working at Disneyland? Do you feel like you can "move up" in the company or stagnant with all of the people working for the company? I am no spring chicken in age but was thinking this might be a good time for a career change.

can anyone help? if this needs to be moved to a different forum i understand, didn't know where to post this.

It's a nice place to work at, but if you were talking about moving up into a management position or what not, that takes time. You could apply for it, but it's very rare that they will take someone form outside of the company. I believe RiversofAmerica is the one that started in an office position with out having worked inside the park before.

If you were still interested in doing so, I would recommend applying now as the hiring period for the winter peak season will be in a couple of months.

Yeah, I was thinking of more either starting out in a management position, or what is the time frame to being promoted to a management position. Its scary out there with not a lot of jobs, thinking Disney might be the right company to work for.

Here is a question, how old is too old to start a career in the parks before you just get lost in the crowd?
