How easy (or hard) is this transition?
If you are interested in becoming a CR I would recommend filling out the paper work for conversion as soon as possible. I believe they only convert a certain number of CTs to CR status. It mainly depends on the number of CTs in your department that are looking to convert, and when you turn your paper work in. I turned my conversion paper work probably around early july last year, and I was converted to CR status mid August.
Do you guys at the park get to ER? Early Release?
Yeah. We can ER or Extend if we wanted to. ERs do not affect the application though.
Nope. I actually started in May but didn't turn in my paper work until July because I had plans for school and what not.
It seems like they wait until after the summer before converting any seasonal to part-time.
What happened to me is out of date. But I worked one summer as a seasonal. After the summer, I was not picked up and let go. A few years later, I returned and was hired again as a seasonal. After the summer I was picked up and changed to part-time and worked year round.
We just "laid off" a bunch of seasonals in my department. All the big talk of how crowded we would be for cars land scared people away, are we busy YES, but no where near where we thought we'd be
I guess I could have come back in the December. I wasn't let go or fired. I was still technically hired (I guess) but was given zero hours. So I quit. It comes with being seasonal. You are only given hours in the summer and Christmas time.
Even the second time around, when I was kept on as part time, there were a few weeks with very little hours. I normally worked the night shift (midnight to 8 am) but right after I became part time, they let me work the day shift for 2 or 3 weeks to give me some hours.
But that was 20 years ago. 20 years! Holy cow!
