Outstanding report! You sound like a real asset to Disneyland. Super job in telling your story -- persistance pays off and you sound like a person who knows what you want, too -- and Congratulations! Cheers.

    Congrats on your new job.

At my job I do not know who cleans my office and production area but I do know it gets cleaned and i do appreciate it.

I get to Dland about once every two years, everytime I go first thing in the morning everything is so clean and fresh. The good people who work the 3rd shift cleaning they set the tone for the first impression. Just think what would happen if a guest walked in and everything was a mess.

Yup! I want to add my congrats on there too!

Being someone who used to work in Foods and preferred closing, I saw my 3rd shift crew every night... just always remember, sometimes the 3rd shift Cast Members feel like they are out of the loop or don't make a difference like the 1st and 2nd shift Cast Members do... but YOU DO. You offer that other type of Magic that is very important to the operation and for the Guests. Guests might not physically see you, but believe me the 3rd shift does make an impact.

Thanks alot guys! I'll be sure to update for those who are interested. But Im qutting my other job on monday so I got a week to try and fall into a different sleep pattern. They said my hours would be midnight to 8am which is fine with me just looking forward to getting to work already and learning as much as I can!

Thanks again for all your great comments!

Any CMs know the situation on the main gate pass? The manager that gave us the tour said a lot of people have been abusing them and she said its a privliage that could be taken away.

aww yes the main gate pass scandel (this happened just after i left).. i guess about 10 from DCA (I know them all) and about 40 from DL, decided it would be great to sell some of their passes.... WELL YOU DONT EVER DO THAT.. they ahve plain clothes security everywhere .. so anyways these people got caught (plus cameras everywhere)

i ahve heard from my friends who still work at DCA, there might be changes to the system, possibly you HAVE TO KNOW the person you are getting in (these people didnt know alot of these people)..,, also they might drop them down to the amount you get

wahtever you do>>> DONT EVER sell your pass, your job isnt worth it

Re: My attempt to become a CM (text heavy)

I too worked 3rd shift custodial at DL. But it was about 12 years ago. We only had 1 week of training. But the interview process you described in your first post is waaay different then how it was done when I was hired. So, who knows about the training process now.

I loved working 3rd shift. I usually slept late afternoon, early evenings (I was going to school in the mornings) I also tried to keep my night schedule even on my nights off. But I was signle at the time and it was failry easy.

The work was fun (mostly, some times not) One thing I liked is that being the "new guy", I moved around alot. One week I would work in TL, then the next, in Critter Country, then a week on the hose crew, ect. But sometimes they would switch me for just one night, then I would be somewhere else the next night.

Chagning areas so often was both a curse and a blessing. I liked in that I was never in a rut, doing the same thing everything night. But for the first while, I felt like it was the "first day on the job" in each of the areas. I didn't know where things were, the fastest way to do things in a given area.

All in all, it was good times.

    Congratz!
