    What are you're biggest Pet Peeves?

    I know as CMs..its soo frustrating...sound off you're crazy experiences, whether its Attractions, Custodial, Foods, Stores, etc..!!!

    Mine would have to be... STROLLERS!!!! when the guest ask where they can leave their strollers, and you tell them... and then they put it where its blocking the entrance, and they look at you..UGH!!! Hate it!!

    i get asked questions non stopped about the price of everything since i work in stores. guests just bring me up random items and ask "whats the price of this and whats the price of that??" so then i take the item and i look at the price tag and so i tell them and then i show them and then they are like oh and walk away......i just cant stand that.......its like guests think that we magically know the prices of all our merchandise that we sell.....

    Gahhhh, strollers!

    When I'd work the exit at night, I'd tell a guest they can't take the stroller out of the park, so they'd take their kid out and leave the stroller right in front of the turnstile. This was particularly fun when there was the post-fireworks flood at the end of the night.

    Along that same note, my biggest pet peeve was having to let the strollers and wheelchairs out of the middle gate while keeping all the regular guests going through the turnstiles during that same flood. I can't tell you how many people would call me a bitch or whatever because I'd ask them politely to please go through the turnstile. Heh, it's been a few years, and just thinking about it still makes me angry. Grr!

    When I was still a CM, I used to get intensely irritated with newbies who thought I was new and thought they could order me around/act like they knew everything. Hi, in case you didn't know, I've been here for two years. Thank you. Goodbye.

    I also got irritated when people wouldn't see the signs at the registers showing which way to enter the line, especially when a line already exists. Does it not seem weird that there are a lot of people with lots of merchandise in their arms lined up opposite you?

    And my all-time favorite: Do you work here? Actually, this itchy green shirt is my favorite and I love love love wearing ill-fitted pants that make me look enormous. But seriously no, I only work here on the weekends. And even then, I only work every other hour. For the most part, I was nice in answering this question, but if someone were extremely rude in asking, then I was simply apathetic.

    My BIGGEST pet peeve is when someone claims to be a writer and doesn't even know the difference between:
    Its
    and
    It's (means IT IS and sometimes IT HAS).
    As well as:
    your
    you're (means you are).

    I agree! We have the same thing at the Disney Store. Last holiday season we didn't even have an exit one so a Cast Member printed out the words "exit" and we taped it on. Thank goodness this year we actually got one. We have always tried hard to get the line to move quickly and when we timed it, the average guest got through a "long line" in 45 seconds or less. I think that's good. When I was at the park I swear that I was the only one in World of Disney who knew what was going on with the lines. (Not to mention how many times I tucked in tags and moved hangers to go the correct way. That's my pet peeve!)

    • When I'm grouping at Pirates and I ask, "How many?". The guests reply with "two," and I assign them a row. Then I ask the next group, "How many?" and they say, "Oh we're with them!"

    • Guests making some stupid comment about walking on the load belt at Haunted Mansion: "How many miles have you walked today?" or "You've been walking all day but getting nowhere..."

    • Guests reciting the Ghost Host spiel or mocking my ER spiel.

    • ...and many more...

    My biggest pet peeve is when I hear guests talking about how they "know" the Disney system, and how they "know" how to scam Disney. It just really irks me when people try to take advantage, and then brag about it.

    Yep, strollers are a pain in the neck. It's annoying when they are left in the Esplanade or infront of city hall, or scattered at any of the other places around the park EXCEPT WHERE THEY WERE PICKED UP FROM. No fun making zillions of stroller trips, stacking them and dragging them back to the stroller shop and repeating.

    Another peeve, when stocking the stores and bringing out my cart full of merchandise to put on the shelves, guests will immeadiately paw through the cart like it has sale stuff or exclusive merchandise, and will dump their trash on the cart.

    But I would have to say #1 is the precious "How much does this cost?" with the price tag dangling in their face. I take it, read the price, they thank me...and then pick up the next item "How much does this one cost?" and the cycle starts over again.

    What, no complaint about the spelling of "soo"?

    It's not so cut-and-dried about that apostrophe when pluralizing an acronym. It depends on whether you're using the MLA style, or APA, or Chicago, or some other style. Strunk and White have different advice than, for instance, the Little Brown Handbook. These rules are not universal.

    Besides, we try not to be grammar police around here, eh? And who was claiming to be a writer?

    I think my biggest was when I worked in Glow merch at MK. People used to see the cart of toys while waiting for the parade, and then just send their kids over to play with the toys for the whole wait. I loved playing with kids when it was quiet, but when it got busy it became VERY difficult to keep track of the transaction at hand as well as all the toys that kids had run off with. I also had a lot of guests that seriously tried to bargain the prices down. It doesn't work that way! Or guests who'd pick up one thing on the cart, ask how much it was... and if I replied $6, they'd say "So everything's $6?"
    "I don't need intelligent drugs because I don't know what they are. But I will put anything into my mouth that is given to me, whether it's supposed to go there or not. Because... I'm different."

    STROLLERS! Last year, when so much of Fantasyland was being refurbished...especially Small World...the area would become so crazy and bottlenecked. Strollers are the bane of my existence.
    And I also hated it when guests would get wheelchairs confused with strollers. They'd park them in the stroller parking area, and if a guest in a wheelchair came into Philharmagic, other guests would assume it was all right to bring in a stroller!
    Once, there was a family in the reserved seating at Philharmagic, and one of the teenaged daughters was in a wheelchair; the other daughter was about five, and seated on her mom's lap. Well,the five-year-old couldn't see, so her mom PICKED up the girl in the wheelchair and held HER while the five-year-old crawled into the chair.
    That was messed up.

    I have a few pet peeves about guests. One of them is children who chew and gnaw on the candy items and then put them back on the fixtures. Theres also the classic scenario where a guest is paying for their purchases and their child is standing next to them, chewing on some candy and I ask the guest if they want to purchase it. They then say, "Oh..well no, I don't want it." They then proceed to hand me the drool coated, half eaten candy without another word. Talk about frequent MOS's.

    Another pet peeve I have is when guests literally shove themselves or their children into the characters. Most of the time, guests are courteous and follow the direction of the formed line or the CM with the character. However, there are times when guests will come running up to the character, completely ignoring everyone in line including the CM and start taking pictures. The worst is when parents come running up with their kids in tow, shoving them towards the character and quickly shouting at them to smile, turn or make a pose.

    My ultimate pet peeve about guests is when they are in a shop with their children and they are browsing about. After a short while, they make their way to the exit. Right behind them are their children, more often than not the child follows them out of the store with a toy or store item in their hands. When you bring this to the parents attention by saying, "Excuse me Sir (or Ma'am), I can take care of the (object the kids have taken). Would you like me to help you with that?", the parents either apologize and return the merchandise and it was an innocent mistake, or the parents verbally attack you and throw a defensive tantrum, spouting on and on about how they weren't stealing (even when you never ever use the word stealing or imply it), blah blah blah. I even had a guest throw his wallet at me one time. I can't stand being put in that position to have to approach a situation like that and still smile wide.

    I have dealt with the first two in my store too. Althought probably not as often as you. We once had one kid who kept eating this one Buzz candy after a CM told him not to and then he went back again. Sad little kid.

    Personally I can't stand that with the characters either. One good thing about WDW is that most of the characters seem to be better controlled with CM attendents. Sometimes it is hard to control kids when it is their favorite. That is why sometimes I let the little, running ones do their things with Woody, Buzz, etc. before I move up. I did that with Mickey at DCA inside the animation building and then he started to dance with me to "Once Upon A Dream". The parents around thought it was cute.
