    Ever Gotten Hurt While Working....

Im sure most of us current and former cm's all have a story about a guest hurting us or something......

for starters, i have gotten my fingers smashed in drawers, guests hitting me and running into me on accident, things dropped on my toes, kids stepping on me......but my best is: i was working in pioneer and helping a guest out that was in an ecv. i guess she didnt see me standing there right behind her and so all of a sudden she runs over my foot with the ecv. omg....i was in so much pain that i couldnt stand or anything for some time.....i just wish that people would watch where they are going with those things and especially with the strollers.

Well, I was born a klutz... but at CFA, which is the nurses station for CMs.. I have a file, of things that has happened to me! LOL! Before attractions, I knew,'Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor', there I burned my arm on a waffle iron... On Steam Trains, I was closing the TomorrowLand Station (front) gate, and as I was holding on to the door, the metal rod went thru the soft part of my hand (between the index and thumb)..this while wearing gloves! As, I took my glove off in the Grand Canyon, I had this golf ball size bruise!!! At Pooh, bruises on my legs, when you 'think' you close the beehicle doors, they tend to swing open..faster and harder on your shins!! Haunted Mansion... Not yet!!

    The worst accident report

A coworker of mine was working the old D-land lot during close. We had this spot by the exits where there was always a lot of traffic, kind of a four way stop and a tram crossing. He was hit head-on by a speeding car then flipped up and over the car. He was hospitalized with several fractures and a concussion. Luckily he survived but it was probably the most severe incident in the Lot.

First days on the job I would get a guest a soft drink (wet-hand) and then grab them an ice cream. Dry ice and a wet hand don't go together very well. Second was while filling up a popcorn bucket or scoop, the oil would sometimes drip down and hit/burn your hand, ouch!! I had the battle scars of Outdoor vending for 1 fun summer 04.

<---- Has no sympathy for vendors who don't put safety first.

I was in your shoes once, and I did some really stupid things. But I learned from them all. And if you want to talk about dry ice burns, there's a guy named Shay in our department who had his hand frozen to a block of dry ice within IC 16 for 10 minutes.

As for me, I've slipped while pushing in Churros 6 down Critter Country hill. Not fun... the wagon drags you down.

I'm also convinced my second hernia occured at work, but when, I'm not sure.

We had this problem with the glasses at the French Quarter. They always formed some very serious vacum when stacked together wet. One duty in the NOMK (New Orlean's Main Kitchen) was working the dish room as a sorter. We would dump the extra food into a trash can then rinse the dishes before handing them to the CM the put them on the conveyor belt that led into the dishwasher. If you're not careful when handling those glasses, they explode (seriously) in your hand if you try to separate them. Cut myself a few times until a Veteran taught me to just throw the glasses into the side of the trash can and just pull out the one that doesn't break.

Hurt my back wiping tables at R2P2. Broke my voice doing greeter. Took years getting my singing voice back.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I hurt my back when I was hanging out with Buzz in Entertainment at WDW a couple of years back. I could still work, but I had to give Buzz shifts away for several weeks after that.

When I was in Pirates Merch there, I also used to slip on the grease behind Pecos all the time.

Oh, and I used to stab myself on inktags all the time... I'd always forget that they go through to the other side of the fabric and stab my hand.

All that I can say is that I thought I was bad when I worked in the Disneyland Bakery (part of the Plaza Inn next to the INN Between) and used to nick myself with knives or burned myself at times when I took things out of the oven (most noteably chesse cakes).
But, everyone that has posted before me makes me look like Mr. Safety.
