New Job! TRADITIONS: What is it?

    Hello Everyone!

I just got a job at...where else? Disneyland! I will be a Attractions Host in New Orleans/Critter Country, this Friday I Have my Orientation that's called Traditions! I was wondering what it was and what they talk about as well as who gives this? Is it important Disney Suits? In that case should I dress nice? Casual? Is it fun? I'm just so excited!! Thanks Everyone!

I'm Mel by the way and i am new to Micechat!

Traditions is orientations. It basically shows you around the park and introduces you to the history of the park. I think it is business casual. Congrats on the job, now I offer these words of advice:

"RUN, RUN AWAY ANBD DON'T LOOK BACK!!! RUN BEFORE THEY GET YOU!!!!"

    Just kidding, enjoy

It's your orientation. After that you do on-the-job training. So think of it as your basic induction into the Disney Way of doing things, and overview of the Company.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Re: New Job! TRADITIONS: What is it?

Traditions is basically just an average orientation to the park and the park guest service models and values. Its about 8 hours long, and if you somehow manage to find fun in it, than you deserve a cookie or 3. The facilitators are usually cast members from attractions in the park.

Dont expect too much. They take you on a "tour" of the park, which consists of walking in through toontown and out through Fantasyland. This is so you can attempt to see the cast members making magic and using the service models in action.

Business casual is the dress, but you should know this as it says so on your paper. That means long sleeve button up shirt tucked in to dress pants and nice shoes.

No Disney suits. You dont need your A-game. You sit and listen allll day.

    Goodluck.

No Disney Suits, they are regular CMs that sign up for the Leadership Program for Disney University.

Welcome to Mice Chat! I have Traditions in about two weeks, and I believe it'll just be a long orientation... and I was right.

Should I take notes at Traditions or what? I love taking notes so I don't mind haha.

Re: New Job! TRADITIONS: What is it?

Traditions is just your average, boring job orientation. It's a long day, so be prepared.

You need to be in Disney look, but you can wear nice athletic shoes because you will go on a (very short) tour of DL.

You don't need to take notes, but they will give you a little Traditions booklet for notes if you wish.

    Congrats!

Nutso! I never think Disneyland is full. (I understand it's attractions only but still)

They often do Traditions classes at the hub during Micechat meets.

An actual conversation I overheard one time between a new CM and the trainer:

New CM, "So this is Main Street?"

    Trainer, "Yes."

    I kid you not.

Aw, well you never know maybe that CM had only been there once or twice and is new to the area.

I know it's like obvious but still.

I hope I ask some dumb questions!

Actually, the Resort seems to have everyone they need for Summer. According to the latest update from DLR Casting, the only Frontline Park Departments with openings are Foods, Guest Services (Main Entrance), Custodial, Photopass and Guest Research.

There are still a smattering of Backstage roles available, and some Food roles at the Hotels, but other than that, we're actually fully staffed for the moment.
