Just click on the above link. Granted, the "expensive to maintain" Rocket rods had to go, many don't care for Michael Jackson, and CoP is currently at WDW. Nevertheless, hope you enjoy these former Disneyland attractions as much as I have.
Splash Mountain probably would not be quite as wonderful as it is had it not been for the inclusion of music from the former Tomorrowland attraction, America Sings.

Does anyone remember when that theatre was 'open' - pre Captain EO? From the Space Mountain line up on top, you could look down to the stage? That was SO MUCH NICER!
No way! Wow, that would be cool. I do remember Captain EO (and thinking it was the coolest thing ever) but nothing before that. What did they do in the theater (live performances, movies)?
I remember when it was open. There was a 3D movie that they use to show at dusk which showcased the technology they use on their current 3D attractions. Anyone remember what the movie was called? Showed a lot of things from nature.
That would be Magic Journeys, originally shown at Epcot (later in the Fantasyland Theater). It only had a short run there.
Other 3-D movies include Adventures In Music: Melody and... can't remember the name. Think it was Mickey Mouse Club Jubilee. Both of those were probably shown at the Mickey Mouse Club Theater.

The open air theater was called the Space Stage, and there was a restauant next to it called the Space Place (the order windows are still behind the blue wall in the Space Mountain Fastpass area) The stage featured live bands and dancing as well as stage shows like Showbiz Is and One Man's Dream like the Videopolis Stage did. The Videopolis Stage was built to replace the Space Stage in 1985 as the latter was inclosed for the Magic Eye Theater

Which music? Every piece of music I've ever heard on Splash Mountain comes from the original movie, Song of the South.
Actually, it's the vocal group from America Sings that I like, when they sing the snappy arrangement of Zippity Do Da.

I loved EO! I still cherish my Fuzzball! Does anyone have the short "Making of" (without Whoopie) that they showed on the monitors while you were waiting in line to see EO? I always dug that. Was it just a montage of the Making of that aired on the Disney Channnel with Whoopie, or was it something different. I always thought it was different. Anybody?
