Oh gosh, that used to scare the crap out of me when I was little. I would panic that the Peoplemover wouldn't get out of the way in time. But I miss it still.
I remember when the peoplemover would speed up on that part. I also remember looking up at the stormtrooper from the star trader.
Ooo! Thanks for the link! I never knew that they had a Stormtrooper on the PeopleMover(since I never got the chance to go on it myself). That's really cool!
I don't remember him either. Still it was a cool idea.
This isn't the "chasing stormtrooper" one I'd always heard about is it? What was it that was in the Tron tunnel prior to Tron(and after progress city)?
From the article:
He actually stood duty over the Star Trader merchandise store. You saw him just after you left Star Tours and rounded the bend past Star Trader and on into Space Mountain. Your Peoplemover train was really picking up speed at that point, so you zoomed by him pretty quick!-- apparently standing duty over the Star Tours attraction.
He had a very slight bit of animation to him. He sort of rocked a little bit from side to side, like he was shifting his weight from one foot to the other. Nothing spectacular, but just enough motion to make him seem like he wasn't just some static prop or mannequin.
I still remember the Storm Trooper. It helped keep that Star Wars feel in the area. To go back to the '80s...
Now, the big question that all of us at www.swstartours.net want to know is... where is he NOW? He disappeared when the PM became the Rocket Rods, so what happened? Was he crated up and sent back to Lucasfilm? Or is he in storage at Disneyland? Or did he make it into the hands of those '501st Legion' Star Wars fans?
