    Attention Disneyland Scanning Enthusiasts...

I have posted what I believe to be a fairly extensive set of scanner profiles for monitoring at the Disneyland resort. The profiles are available at the Files section of the socal scan YahooGroups!

    The file is located here:
    DisneylandV5.zip

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has any comments or questions.

It is a file that you can download to your radio scanner. It contains configuration information required to monitor the parks' various radio systems.

Are you trying to get me to retire my PRO-32? I spent a lot of money on it...

Yeah, in 1987. So what's the Programmable Scanner Du Jour? (To go with the camera, the cellphone, the iPAQ, the iPOD... It isn't a trip to the Park, it's packing for an expedition.)

Why would you take an ipod to the park? Since your ipod is filled with park music, just listen to the 'real deal'.

Scanners are like anything else, depends on what you will be using it for...

There are two major players, Uniden and GRE/Radio Shack. You need a 'trunk tracking' radio to follow the park radios at Disneyland.

Uniden's basic trunk tracker is the BC-246T.
    http://www.uniden.com/productpop/00_...rd_code=BC246T

Uniden's new trunk tracker with digital APCO P25 capability is the BC-396T:

Radio Shack's basic trunk tracker is the Pro-97:
    Pro-97

Radio Shack's digital trunk tracker is the Pro-96:
    Pro-96 / Radio Shack

The basic trunktracking radios will work at the park. The digital capability is useful if you want to monitor some of the newer radio systems that are coming online. ORCO is digital. LAPD is digital.

I like the BC-246T over the current GRE radios since the 246 is so compact and runs on 2 AA batteries. Having said that I like the Pro-96 since it's a very good 'radio'. Good audio quality and great 'decoder'.

I think my favorite will be the new BC-396T, but it's not available until August. It will be about the same size as the BC-246T, but include digital.

If you want more information, go to www.yahoogroups.com and enter the model numbers into the groups search. You'll find user groups for all of these radios.

I also suggest taking a look at the profile I created. There are links to the various software packages used to program the radios. You can d/l them, load up the profiles and get a basic idea of how well that radio/software works on the system. I've tried to include a basic radio comparison in the 'readme' files.

One other 'plug' for the BC-246T (and upcoming -396T) is that it has dynamic bank management. Instead of fixed size banks, you can make a bank as big or small as you want. The feature comes in handy for the DL system.

I wanted to let folks know that I've updated the profile. The original post was missing DisneylandV5_p96.txt, which described the reference configuration that is the basis of the other configs in that file.

I have updated the copy at Yahoogroups! as well as posting it on www.radioreference.com. The file is an attachment to a message in the California Scanning Forum.

    Here is the link: Link

Thanks and sorry for the noise.

    Download the profiles and see...

Basically it is a configuration for all radios in the park. You can listen to security, parades, shows, pretty much any coordination that happens on the radio.
