I can confirm this since a few weeks ago we brought in the bucket of Knott's chicken and did not have to go through security first to eat it.

Yes, the only reason why you have to eat Knott's chicken outside is because it has the name of a competing theme park on the bucket.

ACTUALLY the picnic area is before the security tents from the DTD way. Coming from Harbor, you'll have to pass all the way though security to the other side.

Of course, that's right! We were approaching from the Harbor Blvd. side on that ill-fated day because we had parked in the secret parking lot. That's why we needed an escort.
