OK, so this is really a bike ride, but why not have a few MiceChatters along, right?
We're going to have a bike ride on Labor Day from the Ferry Building in SF across the Golden Gate to Tiburon for Lunch. After lunch we'll return on the 2:35 ferry to Fisherman's Wharf and ride back to the start.
Start time is around 9:00, depending on arrival at the Embarcadero BART station. (Most of us are meeting at the Dublin Station at 7:30 and taking our bikes on the train.) We'll ride along the Embarcadero to Pier 39 and Fishermans Wharf, stopping for pictures, of course. Then we'll continue west along the bike paths to the GG Bridge. Crossing the bridge, we'll ride on through Sausalito and then on to Tiburon for lunch. Then we take the Blue and Gold ferry ($8.50 fare) back to SF.
This is a "tourist pace" ride with lots of stops for pictures and sightseeing along the way. If you don't have a bike, you can rent one at Blazing Saddles near Pier 39 and the Wharf and meet us there. (In the past we've been known to pick up total strangers on our SF rides.) The distance from the Wharf to Tiburon is only 16 miles, and the total ride from the Ferry Building is under 25 miles. In the unlikely even that we are separated, we exchange cell phone numbers.
Be advised that the lower deck of the Bay Bridge will be closed Labor Day weekend, so driving from the East Bay is not a good idea.
Just to get you interested, here are some shots from our last ride in San Francisco:
Below is the Wave Organ on SF Bay. We know where it is. Do you?
This is probably the best way to see some of the sights around San Francisco. And you'll be riding with experienced cyclists who know the route well. Mark your calendar and join us. (Send me a PM if you plan to go.)
