Arrow Star Wars @ California Science Center Meet

Thanks to ALIASd for posting this thread, and JohnnyQuest for commenting about the idea for a MiceChat meet at the Science Center to check out the Star Wars Exhibit.

I am posting this thread to see if anybody else is interested in getting together for one of the days and checking it out as a group. In the poll are the movies that are offered, and they are the only way to gaurantee that you will get into the exhibit (unless you are a member).

You can see that the movies, the dates they run and their times are all in the poll. I have enabled picking more then one option ... but in doing so please ONLY PICK ONE MOVIE AND ONE TIME. This way I can gauge when the most of us will be interested in going and then arrange a date from there.

The poll will close on January 5, 2007 ... so we can decide on a date and purchase our tickets. If more then 15 of us will be going they do offer group rates.

EDIT: For those attending, we will be going FEBRUARY 17 @ 1:30 PM. The movie we will watch is "DESTINY IN SPACE", and the Star Wars exhibit will follow.

    SECOND EDIT:
Here is the "itinerary" for our meet at the California Science Center.

If you need directions to the center, follow THIS LINK to help you out.

Parking is $6.00 per car, $10 for buses or oversized vehicles. To reach the parking structure, turn west into Exposition Park on 39th Street from Figueroa and follow the signs.

The movie we are watching is "Destiny In Space" and will be showing at 1:30 pm on Feb. 17. I called the center and was told that the movie is about 45 minutes long, afterwards we will go directly to the exhibit.

We will meet at noon in the area between the center and the IMAX theatre, underneath where the circular spheres are hanging from the skylight. I'll be wearing a black shirt with posters of old Mickey Mouse cartoons.

Also, per Frogberto's trip report about this event YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BRING CAMERAS! So feel free to bring yours along and snap away!

I look forward to getting together with you all this Saturday. If you have ANY further questions feel free to PM or call me.

    Thanks!
    Elizabeth

I can't do anything 3D. I don't need wear daily glasses but the 3D glasses give me a headache.

Space would be nice and 11:30 isn't too early or too late, traffic wise.

Where is the California Science Center? Obviously it's in Los Angeles somewhere, but I am clicking around their website and it isn't coming up with an address.

Also, what date are you thinking of going?

The California Science Center is a few block from USC, so it is in the Downtown LA vicinity where all the museums are. As for the date, we're still deciding ... and it depends on how many folks are interested in what movie. Most likely though it will be on a Saturday.

It's across the street from USC in Exposition Park. Here's their old map:

Yeah, right where it says it's under construction. It's right across from the Coliseum.

I'm not sure about the movie. Just interested in the Star Wars exhibit. But probably won't go til later.

And Stinkerbell did a full trip report about the Star Wars exhibit in Oregon. It was awesome!

I thought the same thing myself, I just want to see the exhibit. But, it is only if you are a member or see a movie that you are guaranteed entry. If you are part of the general public it is on a first come first serve basis, and they estimate three hours to see and experience the exhibit. That could mean a long wait, although weekdays in the evening are recommended to be fairly light.

    This is so funny!

I just bought tickets for myself and my son to see the Deep Sea 3D movie at 12:30 and the exhibit for February 17. I logged on Micechat and noticed this thread and see that some of you guys will be going too. Maybe I will see you there?
