    Silverwood Summer 2007

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone would like to meet up sometime this summer at Silverwood in Athol, Idaho. I am trying to get some of my non-Micechat friends to go as well. I am thinking about going over a long weekend. Right now I have no specific date in mind, except the the week with August 16th in it I may be in Ohio at Cedar Point.

Here is a link to their website. http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/

Also here is a link to an unofficial site, http://www.rollercoasteralley.com/

And here is a Micechat trip report. http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31510

THE DATE IS SET! It is, Really!

    August 17th to August 19th.
Events include a meet on Sunday the 19th at noon, just like our friends in Disneyland. Other events to follow.

update 8/1/07: unfortunately I have to back out of this trip as well. I am not sure if anyone is still planning on being there, but if so I will help if I can. Sorry. We'll try again next year.

I'd love to. As we get closer to summer, hopefully we can set some dates.

Put us down as a huge maybe! Jeff is supposed to be done with Chemo on July 19 and after that we were talking about going and doing something FUN - so this could be it!! (I'd rather it be DL again, but he doesn't seem too keen on that idea!!)
I love my awesome crazy wonderful friends!!

then 10 seconds later you’d be playing like you were best friends?"

I'd seriously consider it! I have family in Coeur D'alene - and it could be a fun trip!

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

    Melonballer,

If you go, ask Corky or Chet for a cab ride in their locomotive. I spent the whole day with the train crew there last summer. Even got to do a track inspection with them in their gas-powered Plymouth in the morning.

For those of you that don't know, Gary Norton of Norton Antivirus owns the park and actually lives there. His place is one of the brown houses in the bush on the other side of the airstrip.

I live only about a half day's drive away so who knows, maybe you'll see me there.

Awesome Barbossa. I will have to remember that. I love trains, especially steam ones. I hope you can make it down.

I hope you can come up BFJen. it'd be nice to see you again.

I've still got my fingers crossed for you and your husband Tinkermonkey and I hope you can make it. It's lookign liek August might be the best time to go. I've got to see if I can get my Cedar Point plans settled. If you do come you'll have to join the caravan out to Idaho.

Melonballer, if you have a chance to make it to Silverwood, head north of the border to Cranbrook and check out Fort Steele Heritage Town. I worked there on the railway for the last few years. One of our locomotives is a Disney movie star (appeared in two Disney films). That's how the door was open for me at Silverwood because one of their train crew came up to ride with us. Fort Steele is about a 3 hour drive from Silverwood (depending on how long the wait is at the border crossing).
    Here's Fort Steele's website:

It's still early, but I don't have a date for this yet. I have been saying August though, so that would be the likely month.

rollercoasteralley.com had some great pictures of the construction on the water park side. Silverwood lets them come in and photograph the construction (or at least gives them photos to publish). Just keeping you all informed. (ok, mostly I just wanted to bump the topic ).

Been thinking of checking it out. Y'know, to get my jones inbetween Disneyland visits. Is the Couer d'Alene Resort very far from the park? If so, is there a nice hotel near the park? Or would I be better off bringing the RV n' camping out?
