Nothing like waiting until the last minute.
Have you ever wished there was a REAL Main Street U.S.A.? With an authentic and appropriate town connected? Right here in Southern California?
Well, there is. And its only 50 miles east of the one in Anaheim! The following website belongs to Pragmatic Idealist, and highlights Redlands, California. Thanks, Buddy; hope you don't mind the publicity! http://goldencalifornia.blogspot.com/
This month the Redlands Bowl hosts the third annual Redlands Shakespeare Festival. Several Micechatters are going to be meeting in Redlands next Saturday evening, May 12, for the 8:00 performance of "The Merry Wives of Windsor". Some of us did this last year and everyone had a great time, even those who had no previous Shakespeare exposure. Terrific dining and shopping (from expensive to very affordable) are all within walking distance of the bowl, and parking is no problem. The performance itself is free, with a good-will donation taken during intermission. Here is the website for the festival: http://www.redlandsshakespearefestival.com/index.htm
To get to Redlands, take the I-10 east just past San Bernardino to the "Orange Street Exit" in Redlands. At the bottom of the ramp, continue one more block straight ahead to "Orange Street" and turn right. At the third light, turn right into the mall parking lot. Dining and shopping are all around you. The Redlands Bowl is one-half block south of the west end of the mall. Don't worry; the blocks (and the mall) are tiny.
The following website gives more information about the town and area, to help you plan your evening; http://www.redlandshistory.com/history/index.htm
This really is a classy and fun event. Hope to see you there!
So, who's up for the Bard?
