Talking Birthday Fun In Downtown Los Angeles - 08/11/07

So, I'm not sure how many of you would be willing to make the trek to Downtown Los Angeles on a Saturday ... but here is an opportunity to get together and have some fun.

    So here's the plan for August 11, 2007 from 2pm - whenever.

    2:00pm

    Bob Baker Marionette Theatre
    1345 W. First Street
    Los Angeles 90026

Yeah, it doesn't look impressive, but it offers a really great show. If you grew up in Los Angeles chances are you had a school field trip here. Two years ago, to my disbelief I found out that the show was still going, and make a trip for my birthday as a special treat.

Then after the show a nice dinner would be in the works, so I placed a poll to find out where the majority would be interested in going since there are so many great options in Downtown Los Angeles.

    Union Station
Home of the quaint Traxx Restaurant and Bar. Plus you can't beat the fantastic architecture throughout the building - inside and out!

    Olvera Street
There's a good selection of restaurants, and shopping as well. Las Golondrinas is a great place with freshly made tortillas for your meal.

    Little Tokyo
One of my FAVORITE places to go for everything! Oiwake is the place to eat at though - featuring a buffet and karaoke!

    Chinatown
One of the few places I haven't fully explored, so I'm open to suggestions as to where to eat at Chinatown.

Well I hope a good number of you will be able to make it, all I ask is that you bring yourselves and have fun!

LIZ!!! You'll be near me! I have to check my schedule, but we may be there! We also might be entertaining out of towners. We don't know.

I don't know how much you want to spend for dinnner, put Pacific Dining Car is 24 hours and swanky. Like, Club 33 swanky. Breakfast can be had for about $30. Dinner, well, about Club 33 prices. But soooooooooo good.

I just have to mention it to anybody planning on eating downtown.
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see? " - Alice

"If his brain's ran down, how can he talk?" - Jack Pumpkinhead
"It happens to people all the time, Jack." - Dorothy

"It seems the words on my mug are right: 'It is hard to soar with Eagles when you work with Turkeys.'" - Sam the Eagle

That would be another great option!

Ihave to work but I could maybe make dinner
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

The 11th is perfect because I am not going to have DisneyIPresume, Jr. that day. I voted for Olvera Street because I love the Mexican restaurant there. And I also voted for Chinatown because that is near Lincoln Heights and I go up there all the time. But it's your day so you get to decide.

    Looking forward!

I would have loved to join you in this Birthday fun but it's my vacation week with my family before my girls have to go back to school.

If anything changes I'll be sure to let you know before 8/11/07

BTW- all those restaurants sounds good to me. I'm not picky.
