Re: vegas meet with a poll

I have taken this from the original vegas meet thread, because I felt it was important to post.

    __________________________________________________ ____________
I am going to the Travel Show in Vegas in September. I am meeting with a lot of Vegas Hotels and Suppliers and expect to come back with some get ideas. Two are Vegas VIP and Vegas show tickets.

This weekend Snow White Raven and I are on a free trip to the Wynn. It's a business trip not a play trip.

If the group can come up with a firm date I will see what I can do about getting us some perks.

her is another thing judimouse also said in the other thread

    ________________________________

The more days you pick between Sunday-Thursday the cheaper the rooms. I would suggest drive over on Saturday and the leave on Monday. At least you would be a good rate one night.

FYI, a lot of Las Vegas hotels will not accept advance reservations with a Saturday arrival. Have you even considered a location for the meet yet?

Another thing to keep in mind: The National Finals Rodeo starts December 6th. A ton of out of town visitors will be arriving that week and it could impact room availability and rates.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority runs a call center that can help you check rate and availabilities at all the hotels. Their number is 1-877-VISIT LV (847-4858).

Just to add to what Tim said.

We got married in Vegas during Rodeo weekend. And have been going back on that weekend pretty much every year (but probably not this one). It is very busy, and yeah, you most definately won't be able to arrive on a Saturday during a busy weekend like that.

I voted for the first option, but this sounds good to me also - Vegas 2008!

I would like to suggest late January. Better rates and we can call it the Winter Blues trip.

Need to know if you want high end, middle rate or a great rate. I am going back to LV on the 9th and will be meeting with several Vegas groups.

We decided to stay at the Sahara as it's the terminal for the monorail that runs to the MGM Grand.

Our rate is $63.00 a night Sunday thru Wednesday. I will be meeting with their sales department on Dec 10th. I am going to see what perkis they will give us if we have 20 rooms. I do know that their weekend rate is $120.00.

May main objective is to get us the best rate and as many perks as I can.

Will keep you all posted. The last three Sun-Thurs, in Jan, rates are at $55 right now.

that sounds great.. I was going to post to cancel this trip until january

and I like the sahara idea (not that I would stay there) since i live here, but I think that is the best place. We ahve stayed there before while visiting due to the monorail system being right there

Judimouse.. I would say TRY To get a best rate.. see what you can come up with in january.. and we can post a thread when you get back from YOUR TRIP...to see what people want...

I would say the cheaper the better...

thanks for helping out my friend, i really apprecriate it alot

Re: vegas meet with a poll

January is the start of the busy season for Vegas. There are numerous large trade shows such as the Consumer Electronics Show (150,000 attend) and some other major conventions. it is also busy on the weekends with NFL football playoffs. It will be hit and miss on room rates at this time of year, and most strip hotels will not do much in a way of a price break unless you are booking at least 100 rooms. They do not need the business since the average 92% occupancy.

Your best week is going to be from Friday Jan 25 to about Wed Jan 30. That weekend there is no football and you are before Superbowl. People will start coming in Thursday for Superbowl which is Feb 3, so rates will go up.

Jan 26 will probably be the MiceChat 3rd annual B-day meet.

If you want cheaper rates go after Presidents Day in February. Rates will drop for a couple of weeks before the spring convention season.

Winter Blues Trip is an awesome idea Judimouse! I am up for it, and late Jan is great, I could take my husband for his birthday! I agree with Kelly, lets stick to the best rate possible, as we know we will all be far to busy partying with PirateMonkey to need a pricey hotel room!
