No. No one will be going that day, even though it's the 53rd birthday. Gas prices have finally taken their toll.;)
(Sorry, Lynn - I just couldn't resist that thread title)

I've just heard that they reread the dedication at the flagpole sometime in the afternoon. If anyone knows when that will happen, perhaps we could meet then.
Maybe someone can put a poll with this thread? As I mentioned in your other thread I hope to be there.
Unfortunately, I have work.
I might swing by that day!!! Fortunately it lands on one of my days off!!
Is there going to be a meet??? Let me know!!
I am planning on going for a little while. But I have to be on the road by 5. I have a choir practice in Aliso Viejo. So if someone wants to meet up in the morning or early afternoon that would be great. Please let me know. I would love to meet up with someone. I know its tough being that the 17th is a thursday and of course with the gas prices. Believe me I know. See ya there.
Are there any special goings on during this day??
Probably not this year....maybe in 2010 - to mark 55 years.....course, between now and July 17, 2010, I'll go another 100 times or so......
The official Disneyland Park Celebration will be at 4:45 PM on Thursday the 17th, right after the Flag Retreat in front of the Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station. Basically a small ceremony that features the replaying of the Dedication Speech Walt Disney spoke on July 17th and July 18th, 1955.
There will be a Noon Meet at the Central Plaza (aka Hub) on both July 17th, in celebration of the famous International Press Preview and the live ABC broadcast, which at the time, was one of the biggest live TV remotes ever.
Then another Noon meet on Friday, July 18th, in celebration of the day Disneyland opened its gates to the public 53 years ago.
And maybe we should do something on the 17th, after the noon meet, but prior to official Disneyland celebration.
I am suggesting that MiceChatters meet up between the flag pole and the Train Station around 4 PM, so we can watch the Flag Retreat, and then the Dedication ceremony on Thursday.

I will be there on Thursday. David, when you refer to a "noon meet" Thursday and Friday, you are referring to park officials and such, right? As opposed to an MC meet.
I plan to be there from park open til night. so I'll meet up as many of you as I can! Looking forward to seeing you, Lynn and Margo (and everyone)...

All sounds good to me. I will try to make both the Hub at Noon and the Flag Retreat/Dedication at 4. I'll have my daughter with me so its iffy that we'll do both but I'll try.
Actually the 18th is my 53rd anniversery trip to the park but the 17th works better for me :D
